……brought smiles to all today.
And as soon as we were gathered, Arleigh shouted “Can we do our play?!!” Her excitement was contagious so we set out to rehearse Thumbelina. Thumbelina loves sunshine too. Arleigh and Finn disappeared to get into costume.

We won’t tell you too much (there’s a performance plan in the works), but here are a few pics to peak your curiosity!
After rehearsal, we had a brainstorming meeting to make sure we have our bases covered.
Friends are most interested in choosing the perfect costume for their character. Lea asked if we could read the story. We have studied/compared/contrasted three versions of Thumbelina. The most popular version has a witch in the beginning.(www.Penguin.com, Brad Sneed, Illustrator). It’s also interesting that no one wanted to be the toad or (initially) the mole, both creepy “mean” characters. Finn came through for us, agreeing to be a Beetle/Mole combo with Max.
We continue creating art with our foam hearts. Lisa set out glue, scissors, foam letters, sparklies and feathers.
These art explorations always morph into whatever the artist is most interested in working on.
The pirate ship floated back to the surface and landed on the island.
We finished our morning outside, playing and basking in the Glorious Warm Sun. Just like Thumbelina would do.
Wee Sprouts: Carrots. Breakfast: Applesauce Malt-O-Meal. Lunch: Whole wheat bagels with slices of turkey, pear slices and carrots. Snack: Co-Jack cheese and wheat crackers.
