WF Daily Explorations, Let’s BBQ the Grinch 12/11/13

We were having blog problems uploading the pictures, so here’s just the text of today’s blog.  We’ll get all the pics to you as soon as we figure out why our program is being difficult.

Tomorrow, our dear Melinda is having knee surgery. She will be gone through the beginning of January. Should you want to touch base with her, she asked that you feel free to write her via email or snail mail @ [email protected] or 134 River Avenue, Mishawaka 46554.

We are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow (Thursday 12/12) at 4pm!

Our day began with a sticker project. We set out stickers and black card stock and encouraged friends to create ornaments.

Ellie is deep into a study of her favorite book, Beauty and the Beast. We set out to lift ideas off the page by offering Ellie and later, several of her friends, red and green paper and tape to create roses. After Ellie finished her rose, she set it under a glass bowl. She will watch it in days to come to see how, with her imagination,  it might change.

As friends settled into independent play, here are some of the thoughts we gathered, about their work at hand.

Max, Elliott and Finn: “Let’s BBQ the Grinch so we can eat him. It will be like hot dogs without the bun.”

Zoi: “I’m drinking  milk.”

Eve: “I’m feeding the baby this.”

Clara: “I’m feeding my baby milk. He’s sitting in the high chair.”

Aislinn: “Ga-ga baby! We’re playing house with daddy and mommy. They are saying go to bed.”

Owen: “Go to bed baby. Ring-ring-ring! You can get up baby!”

Marta: “I waited for Lisa. I picket out this book.”

Ellie: “I’m building a big tower so the bad wolf doesn’t get up there and eat the pig!”

Elizabeth: “I’m making a wall for the Big Bad Wolf to not get up to the surface.”

Marina: “ This is the Big Bad Wolf.”

Enjoy your day. It’s a good day for a BBQ.
