There were lots of ideas and interests being developed today. Fireflies for one. Yesterday, Lisa read a book that mentioned a firefly. The kids were captivated by this tiny magical insect. Today, a small group worked together to learn the different parts of a firefly, especially the part that makes it light up!
Puzzles, princess drawings and Magna Tiles were other activities that filled the imaginations of our friends.
We filled bins with snow and added Little People. We also squirted water color and sprinkled sparkles into the snow. We asked questions as friends explored the textures and temperatures: “Is it hot or cold? Soft or hard? Slimy or fluffy?”
The Polar Express was built under the habitrail. We explored the word “polar” and identified other words that are coupled with it (and why).
A small group of friends used magnifying glasses to study other kinds of bugs and insects.
They organized a very practical and comfortable work table for their study.
And a few friends danced The Nutcracker. To the Nutcracker music. They described, at length, characters in the story and which WF was which character.
Our older friends who meet for large group after lunch began The Magic School Bus study. As I write, they are creating their own magic school bus out of cardboard boxes, markers and glue.
Princesses and fireflies, trains and buses. Let’s see where our Wee minds take us.
Have a terrific day!
