Happy Thursday! Today started off with some work at the light table. Using the Crystal Climbers friends experimented with mixing various colors together. When stacking the different colored tiles on top of each other it is easy to see the colors they make!
Friends also spent time working on puzzles and playing together in housekeeping.
For most of the morning the art table was occupied with friends working with the shape punches. Besides challenging fine motor skills (putting the paper into the punch correctly), this activity also works large motor skills (it takes a lot of force to push down the punch!) Many friends took their creations to the next level by gluing or sorting their tiny shapes.
To the joy of the WFers, we also got some outside time today. Many friends worked together to collect ice from around the yard and put it in a sled. They created a very large ice collection!
This week we have been working on some of our social studies standards. Our next 12 week cycle of literacy and math FABs start next week! This week one of the FABs is K.2.1: Give examples of people who are community helpers (inside the classroom and outside the classroom) and describe how they help us. We have been talking about various occupations and jobs in a variety of settings.
In large group this week we have discussed what our parents do at their jobs (we had some funny answers—ask your children what they think you do!), what tools some occupations use, re-visited the song “The People in Our Town” and talked about what they want to do when they grow up.
Wee Sprouts: Green beans. Breakfast: Cheerios and bananas. Lunch: Whole grain brown rice with chicken, carrots and fresh apples. Snack: Triscuits and peanuts.
