Hello!
**For parents of swimmers: On Tuesday’s, please dress your child in clothes that are easily taken off/put on since children are changing at the Y in the dressing room. We often try and have children assist in this process as much as possible. Please avoid shirts and dresses with buttons, tights/tight leggings, and lace up tennis shoes.
Some of the swimmers went up to the science area and waited for the weehicle to pull up. From what we heard, it was a GREAT first session. One child was super thrilled to share that, “I swam with the noodle all by myself!”
While the swimmers were away, the rest of us enjoyed the outside environment. The little people and trucks were quite popular this morning.
We saw a BIG truck this morning. The garbage truck came down the alley and honked their horn for us! This was quite exciting for our friends.
In large group, we focused on the following FAB:
K.RF.3.1: Identify and produce rhyming words.
After reading, ‘There’s a Wocket in My Pocket’ and ‘The Cat in the Hat’, we talked about what the two books have in common. After a little discussion, we came to the conclusion that cat and hat rhymed as well as wocket and pocket. As a group, we came up with several examples of rhyming words. There were a couple examples that were given where the two words DIDN’T rhyme. Addi said, “They have to sound alike. Stool and carpet don’t sound alike.” We used the word ‘stool’ though and found out that it has a rhyming word, ‘pool’!
