Good Afternoon!

Our welcome activity along with our sign in this morning was geared towards one of the FAB’s for the week: K.M.1 that focuses on recognizing which object is warmer or colder, along with various other factors. Children sat around the circle table to play the category game that allows friends to distinguish items that go in the sunny, warm weather along with the cold weather.

Foam puzzles were a hot commodity this morning as children sat at the island, using their trial and error skills as they deciphered where different puzzle pieces went.

Patterns that mimic letters were made available at the art table. Using the Fall erasers, children either traced the line or made patterns of their own.

The option to use the sensory table is an everyday activity. It allows for friends to use their hands in a productive manner. It also provides children with the opportunity to work on filling, dumping, and measuring skills.

In large group, we read ‘The Gruffalo’. FUNNY book! We enjoyed learning about the gruffalo and predicting what was going to happen next. There were many animals that were afraid of the gruffalo, which at this point in the story, was a made up animal. The mouse in the story made up the gruffalo as a defense mechanism but it turns out, there really was a gruffalo. As different animals came up to the gruffalo, we predicted what was going to happen based on our previous knowledge and by reading about what had already happened in the story. We also looked at the pictures to learn about the surroundings of the characters along with the characters themselves! (K.RL.2.4)
