Happy Friday!

**A note to parents: We’ve been working with our friends on NOT touching or opening the front door. Since it is a safety issue, we implement the following rule: ONLY TEACHERS AND PARENTS CAN OPEN/CLOSE THE DOOR. If we could get your help with this during drop offs and pick up’s, we’d greatly appreciate it!

Today wasn’t Friday here at Wee Friends: it was experimentation day.

Experiment 1: Fill a pitcher with water. Attach a piece of string to the pitcher and another cup. When the pitcher gets tipped to where the water starts pouring out, it should go down the string (the string has to be tight), as opposed to going on the ground. After a few tries and switching up a few of our variables, it worked! The water travelled down the string!

Experiment 2: The back story: yesterday afternoon, we tried this experiment. The food coloring drops were put into the center of the cup and we didn’t get the result we were hoping for. SO, after a long nights sleep, we retried the experiment this morning.

Everyone had a cup of milk. One drop of each color (red, blue, green, and yellow) was placed on the OUTSIDE of the cup. Eventually, the colors started to migrate toward each other in the center of the milk, blending with each other. IMPORTANT: You CAN NOT touch the glass or it voids the result.

A couple things we observed:

1. The yellow migrated the shortest amount compared to the green, red, and blue.

2. The yellow also sunk to the bottom while the other colors did not!

Experiment 3: Friends requested a new batch of slime. So, given it was St. Patrick’s Day, we made a new green batch of slime!

We can do SO many things with slime. One of our favorite things to do is hold it by our head (over the tray) and watch as it slowly falls, bringing the topic of gravity into our sensory experiment.

Of course, there were breaks in our exploratory morning. For example, Jackson read to his younger friend Grady! They read many Robert Munsch books together.
