Good Afternoon!
It was all about the HEXAGON this morning!
Hexi-cards were available all morning for children to explore with! Lulu and Franklin worked together to make a pattern on the light table while Emma and Grady manipulated the hexi-cards on the island. Grady connected the hexi-cards based on matching colors. “This almost looks like a snake with two eyes!” commented Grady as he finished up.
K.4.1: Identify and describe geometric objects: circle, triangle, square, diamond, trapezoid, hexagon, octagon, parallelogram, sphere, and cube. (2006 standard)
Maddie and Lulu sat at the island and worked with rhyming clip cards. While looking at the picture, they had to clip the picture that rhymed!
K.RF.3.1: Identify and produce rhyming words.
In large group, we read ‘One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish’. As I read, there were times where I stopped at the last word of the sentence and children filled in the missing word. They used context clues and came up with the rhyming words!
Miss Melinda’s music time this morning was beyond engaging!
First, children who came to the music rug worked on rhythm patterns and tonal patterns. Then, we walked around the house; Miss Melinda played the drum and we marched to the beat! We switched between fast movements and slow movements. We even had to freeze and ‘strike a pose’! Not only were friends engaged musically but we also got to get up and move our bodies in a positive way!
Breakfast– Whole grain oatmeal with PPC blueberries.
Lunch– Homemade egg salad on whole wheat bread, PPC grapes, and fresh cherry tomatoes.
