Good Afternoon!
Lulu interacted with the clock this morning as she moved the hour and minute hand to match the time that was shown on various cards. After the first couple of tries, Lulu made the connection that the first number matched up with the smaller (hour) hand while the second number matched up with the big (minute) hand.
K.M.2: Understand concepts of time, including: morning, afternoon, evening, today, yesterday, tomorrow, day week, month, and year. Understand that clocks and calendars are tools that measure time.
The welcome activity consisted of pegs and various sized peg boards. It’s an activity for all developmental levels.
For instance, Maddie and Lulu made a pattern to complete the peg board. Maddie commented, “I have two yellow pegs so I need eight more.” She had counted the entire row and knew that she needed ten pegs.
David focused on identifying his colors while Franklin let everyone know that he made a square after he put pegs all along the outside of the board.
Many children came to the art table this morning to explore with markers and paper. Anna was ready to write; she wrote several A’s on her paper while Grady drew a house!
It was a building type of morning! And our goal was to build UP! Grady stacked trio blocks as high as his head while Max and Franklin stacked pegs as high as they would go before they fell down.
“Art for toddlers and preschoolers is rarely about beauty. It’s all about exploration and personal expression.”
