Good Afternoon!
In our pre-k/k group, we read a ‘Frog and Toad’ story titled ‘Shivers’. Frog told Toad a scary ghost story and throughout the story, we talked about whether we thought the scary ghost story was real or made-up. Children used the words ‘fiction’ and ‘nonfiction’ when expressing their thoughts. We stopped at several spots in the story and predicted what was going to happen next. Lucy used contextual clues and pictures to help predict what was going to happen next.
Children also used their growing knowledge of the relationship between Frog and Toad to guide their thoughts about this story. We are getting to know Frog and Toad individually along with the ins and outs of their relationship.
K.RL.2.4: Make predictions about what will happen in a story.
K.RL.2.1: With support, ask and answer questions about main topics and key details in a text heard or read.
