WF Tuesday 4/29

001

We are repurposing our outside balls. They have made very interesting art.

008

We created more ice houses for our ice village. We poured our “yucky marker” watercolor into several milk jugs, filled them with water and put them into the freezer.

016

Friends continued to work with the colored water by adding sponges and droppers.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

Nora, Saskia, and Eren started off their week with a little sensory play. They sat at the table while shaving cream was put in front of them on a tray. We added red and blue paint which we found out eventually made purple! Friends loved putting the shaving cream between their hands. It felt so smooth!

Maya and Henri worked with blocks this afternoon. While Henri was working to get himself out of the basket, Maya noticed the camera. Lately, we’re all fascinated with the camera Smile.

Dress up has been a favorite of ours lately. We love working with the hard hats! Today, we did a great job of sharing the hard hats with our friends who wanted a turn.

WF 4/25 Friday “What the h**l?”

001

There were lots of interesting conversations that happened today, but, by far, the most surprising was when a friend expressed in full voice “What the h**l is the matter with this?” A teacher sitting nearby listened, processed and a couple minutes later reacted.

“Tell me again what you said?”

“What the h**l is the matter here? I heard it on the home improvement show.”

“Ok. Well, usually the word h**l is used by grown ups when they are frustrated or angry about something.”

“Well, I’m definitely angry here.”

I can’t really think of anything else to share. Hope you have a great weekend. –Laurie

Hello!

It was a rather nice morning outside so we took full advantage of it! Outside play provides an opportunity for our friends to interact with older friends next door at Wee Friends. They see old friends and meet new ones. It’s a wonderful mixing pot of personalities and play types. Some kids go hard all the time while others hang back and play quietly. Outside allows us to be free.

Nora started chopping away at the tree stump while Lulu looked on at friends playing in the sandbox. She later joined them!

Eren has been working dilengently on different bikes. First, he started off with the green bike which is called a balance bike. It allows friends to work on their balancing skills by having no pedals. Within the past couple of days, his new challenge is the blue bike (tricycle). The combination of steering the bike and pedaling can often be challenging. While in the backyard this morning, we hear Eren say, “I did it! I did it!” as he’s pedaling along. He got the hang on pedaling and steering. He was SO proud of himself. It’s wonderful to watch a child complete a task while a huge SMILE takes up their face.

This afternoon, friends worked in the gross motor area where we maneuvered blocks, stairs, and other friends Smile.

Hello!

**Even though it tends to still be a little chilly in the morning, please make sure that your child has the appropriate clothes in his/her cubby in the bathroom for any needed clothing changes throughout the day. Thanks! (HOPEFULLY, winter has fully left us)

First, we want to wish Henri a BIG happy 1st birthday! We love you!

Lucy, Maya, and Henri all joined the ‘toddlers’ club this week. In May, look for our last ‘baby’ to turn 1. Where has the time gone?

Between habitrail play and spending a lovely morning outside, friends had an exciting Wednesday! We’re half way through our week. We’re noticing that friends spirits are up and naps are better when we get some vitamin D outside!

After reading My Garden by Kevin Henkes, we invited friends to take a nature walk and collect natural materials that they could create a garden mosaic with. When they came to the art table, Mel drew an outline of their inspiration. They filled it in with the items they found outside.

030

Max and Finn worked at the stove with dried Great Northern beans. They recorded how long it took for the water to boil. They poured the dried beans into the water and kept close watch, examining what happened to the beans. After a while, they took them out of the boiling water and studied them.
