WF 10/29 Ballet and Bones

025

According to many of our ballerinas, the answer is NO. No way. So that got us talking. And researching.

022

We discovered many boy ballet dancers and talked about the strong bones and bodies it requires for boys and girls to be ballet dancers. We wondered: Does the ND quarterback take ballet? Do soccer players have to have strong bodies? We compared ballet dancers to athletes and discovered they have a lot in common.

009011

Tree bones were being cut down in a house nearby. Friends heard the truck and Melinda led them out to watch.

014

Our stepping logs help our bones grow and our bodies find balance.

031

Wee bones growing and Wee brains blossoming.

It was reported that friends had a terrific first swimming session! Have a great day.

Wee Sprouts: Sweet peppers. Breakfast: Cereal and pear slices. Lunch: Tortillas and turkey, bananas and broccoli. Snack: Yogurt and cranberries.

*Tomorrow is the start of a new swimming session.

*Next Monday is the beginning of a new Blue Bus session. Forms and fees for the Blue Bus are due on Friday. Even if your WF is NOT enrolling in gymnastics, please fill out the form, as such, and return to Tami.

*Fall 2013 farm fees are also due on Friday.

*All of the above info will be hanging on your Wee Friend’s cubby.

THANK YOU!

A Wee Friend parent dropped his child off this morning. When we asked him how his day was going, he replied: “Just pursuing happiness.” In truth, he said, he had been reading the Declaration of Independence and the phrase stuck in his head. We thought it seemed fitting for the way we spend our Wee days: pursuing and finding happiness: intellectually,  socially and emotionally.

002

Social happiness, sharing the ballet bar.

009

Intellectual problem-solving happiness: This Little Person has lost his kitty. What should he do?

054

Happiness when feeling comforted.

015

Happiness with the freedom of being four.

021

Literacy happiness.

045

Happiness in the act of creating.

036

Happiness at having important jobs to do and feeling valued.

042

Wee Friends….and the Pursuit of Happiness. We got it down!

Hope YOUR day’s pursuit of happiness has been fruitful.

Wee Sprouts: Green bell peppers. Breakfast: Cereal and banana. Lunch: Whole wheat pasta with marinara, pear slices and salad with French dressing. Snack: Roasted pumpkin seeds and Goldfish.

Baby smiles and chatter filled the house this morning.

Did you know it snowed last night? Smile

We headed outside all bundled and warm.

IMG_0497IMG_0498

While it was a little wet outside, we were still able to play and have fun with our older Wee friends!

IMG_0506IMG_0512

“Did you know that it snowed last night?”

“There was snow on my roof!”

“I ate it!”

The Wee friends came bounding out of the back door just chattering up a storm about that white stuff that visited us last night Smile.

Eve, Eren, and Emma took turns in the swing before we had afternoon snack. They loved it!

IMG_0540IMG_0542IMG_0545

For breakfast, children had chex and banana. Lunch consisted of hummus tortilla sandwiches, green beans, and pears. PM snack was homemade bread with butter.

Have a great night!

WF 10/24 Turning the Lights on at Wee Friends

Per Tami’s request, please make sure that your Wee Friend has a hat and a pair of mittens that are labeled with their initials AND ones that can stay here at Wee Friends. Thank you!

012

What happens in the morning, before the lights come up on our Wee World? Lisa captured a few of the many areas we spend time in, to create a welcoming environment for our Wee peeps and families. And then, Ready! Steady! Off we go!

022

Today, when breakfast was over, when Hair Hugs had been passed out, and when all of our friends had arrived, we gathered on the music rug to discuss weight. With a scale.

043

How much does our body weigh? Each friend hopped on the scale to discover and record their answer. Legless Lone Star Lizette had her head weighed. That got us thinking more about our heads: the shape and the weight of them. Friends lined up to have their heads traced for our emerging skeleton (on the basement door).

051

Then the Ballerinas took the carpet.

060

Other friends gathered at the art table to explore letters, sounds and words with individual wordbooks.

075

We counted and sorted glass beads into Halloween molds. We played games together.

083084

And we sang, many times over, a Wee Friends song “I Just Ate an Apple”:

“First you eat an apple and chew chew chew!

Swallow it down it becomes poo-poo!

It starts with a toot and you’re ready to go!

Run to the potty! Plop…..there it goes……”

Sung to remind our friends that THE POTTY is where we put our poos….

The lights shine bright in the Wee World.

085

Wee Sprouts: Celery sticks. Breakfast: Corn Flakes and bananas. Lunch: Hummus on whole grain tortillas, apple slices and green beans. Snack: Pretzels and cheese sticks.

Hello!

**We’re running low on bags for diapers so if anyone has any spares they’d be willing to donate, we’d be forever grateful Smile.

Music filled the house this morning. The lovely sound of the xylophone rang in our ears. Eve pointed out the different colors that she saw too while playing her instrument.

IMG_0387IMG_0388IMG_0391

We bundled up this morning and headed outside for a little while.

IMG_0399IMG_0398

After being out for a while, rain drops began to fall which called us inside! Rain, snow, cold…in October!

IMG_0404IMG_0406

Our babes are growing each day. Between starting to crawl and eating their first stages of baby food, it’s a whole new world Smile.

IMG_0413IMG_0409

Lately, we’ve been playing peek-a-boo with our baby friends. All of our other friends have joined in Smile.

WF 10/23 Smiles and Multi Tasking

007

Lisa welcomed Wee Friends into the classroom with a camera lens and an invitation to SMILE and start the day with joy. And a joyful day it has been.

We explored skeletons and made skeleton families.

019

Under the habitrail, four different works were happening, simultaneously.

027

We talked some more about skeleton bones and read Shake ‘Dem Bones. And then we did. Shake them bones.

038

Lisa outlined friend’s toe bones.

040

After seeing this, a few friends decided to trace their own finger bones.

042

Lone Star Lizette came back from Butterfly Island to help Lisa and Melinda teach Wee Friends how to get bundled up to go outside:

1) Coats on

2) Hats on

3) Mittens or gloves on last!

062

And with that, we were over and out and into the cold morning air!!!

Hope your day has been joyful too.

Wee Sprouts: Carrots. Breakfast: Bagels with cream cheese and bananas. Lunch: Cous-cous, banana/orange fruit salad and broccoli. Snack: Homemade wheat bread and apple butter.

Good Afternoon!

**Just as a reminder, please bring your child with the appropriate clothes for these chilly temps such as gloves, appropriate shoes, hat, and winter/warmer coat. Our friends don’t last a long time outside but we’d like to get out as much as possible. Thanks!

The Wee Wee band had practice this morning. These cold and chilly temps kept us inside this morning so our friends rocked out.

IMG_0333IMG_0334

The combo of the piano and drums was a lovely treat to our ears Smile.

IMG_0336IMG_0337IMG_0338

Taters stayed warm in his animal fleece today Smile.

IMG_0343IMG_0381

Friends whipped up a few warm dishes for this cold weather. Children gathered in the kitchen where Eren let them know that the oven was ‘hot’.

IMG_0377IMG_0372IMG_0368

For breakfast, children had corn flakes and banana. Lunch consisted of cheese tortillas, peas, and banana. PM snack was string cheese and crackers.

Have a great evening.
