Happy Friday!

**We’re asking for extra small pony tail holders that parents are willing to donate. Our friends love getting their hair done and we’re running out. Thanks! Smile

Story time started off our morning. We sounded out different words such as “Eleanor” along with different animals in the story.

DSC03115DSC03119

We travelled outside where P.K. and Chloe went straight for the teeter totters. It’s been hot and humid this week so we haven’t been outside a lot. We sure did enjoy being outside this morning!

DSC03122DSC03123

Our friends travelled back to the flower garden where we observed a few tomatoes that are starting to grow. They are still green and children were told that when they are ready, they’ll turn red!

DSC03126

Children used their sense of smell to smell the different flowers in the back yard. We also talked about the color of the flowers and how they smelt.

DSC03130

Marina said, “Purple like my shirt!”

DSC03132DSC03135

The pinkish red flower was beautiful and our friends loved the color!

DSC03134

Ellie used her sense of smell with a lot of different flowers.

DSC03138

The doggie next door was outside. He was barking and our friends talked back to him. P.K. pointed at the dog and said, “Ruff.”

DSC03141DSC03142

Marina and Clara joined one another in the kitchen to play pretend. Marina made the food while Clara was served while sitting at the table.

DSC03143DSC03146

Our friends painted before lunch time. They chose the color of paper as well as paint that they wanted to use. Brushes and fingers were used to make different artwork.

Chloe smiled as she saw that she got paint on her finger!

DSC03153DSC03156

Marina dove into the paint and decided to use her hands to paint.

DSC03159DSC03161

As Chloe listened to music out in the living room while painting, she started to dance! Clara loves using her hands to paint while P.K. enjoys using the paint brush.

DSC03164DSC03166DSC03167

Clara shows her friends and teachers that she got purple paint all over her hand! P.K. made sure to push the brush down hard to get all of the paint onto the paper. Ellie made circular motions with her brush.

DSC03170DSC03176DSC03181

Ellie was very careful to keep the paint on the paper. Clara went all in and enjoyed her sensory time with the purple paint.

DSC03183DSC03178

Zoey had floor time today where she continues to excel at keeping her head up as she lays on her tummy. She did get tired after a while and rested her head on her arm.

DSC03187DSC03192DSC03198

For breakfast, children had Chex and apples. AM snack was cucumbers. Lunch consisted of whole wheat tortillas with turkey and melted cheese, blueberries (that went FAST!”), and cucumbers. PM snack was animal crackers and raisins.

Have a great weekend!

Good Afternoon!

Chloe and Clara sat together this morning working on a puzzle activity. The object of the game is to take a shape and match it to a wooden block. Chloe used trial and error to match her shapes. If a shape didn’t match to the wooden block, she’d try a different one.

DSC03058DSC03059

DSC03060

Ellie and Emma sat quietly while reading different books. Ellie always asks politely to “read books please.”

DSC03062DSC03063

In the sensory tub this morning, friends investigated different noodles as well as beans. They used containers and cardboard circular tubes to fill the mixture with. Some friends shook their hands around in the mixture making a loud sound.

DSC03064DSC03067DSC03070

DSC03076DSC03072

Zoey sat in her chair while playing with a variety of toys. She is becoming much more secure in her surroundings. Friends come up to Zoey and tickle her feet. She loves when her older friends play with her!

DSC03077DSC03085

This afternoon, Marina and Chloe played dress-up. Chloe put a blanket over her eyes and took it off quickly and said, “Peak-A-Boo”. Our friends are continuing to understand that even though their eyes are covered, their friends are still present!

DSC03087DSC03090

Emma is working on walking. She has crawling down and is now starting to master the next step which is walking! Emma is observing her friends at Wee Wee who walk. She has begun to walk from a chair to the bookshelf while holding on to something.

DSC03092DSC03093

For breakfast, children had corn bran and cantaloupe. AM snack was fresh apples. Lunch consisted of beef and whole wheat noodles, juicy watermelon, and snap peas. PM snack was rice pudding.

Have a terrific evening!

Good Afternoon!

Today, we had great story time. Our friends read with a group and individually. Our friends love listening to a good story. Not only does this allow for student-teacher bonding but also friends building relationships by reading together. Children’s comprehension of reading books is growing. They know certain parts of their favorite books.

DSC03014DSC03027

Friends sat quietly in different places throughout the room.

DSC03028DSC03029DSC03030

Zoey continues to work on floor time and finding things to keep her interest peaked! She loves the toys that her friends bring her throughout the day. Her head is continuously up as she lays on her belly. She looks around the room at her surroundings.

DSC03016DSC03053

Wee Wee’s played dress up this morning. A few favorites included the magician cape as well as the pink flower dress. We’re working with our friends on asking politely when they ask for help. For instance, asking “Can you please help?” when needing assistance.

DSC03020DSC03021DSC03024

Ellie loved standing on her head and continued to practice her downward facing dog pose. She balanced on her hands and feet. Once she was balanced, she kicked her feet up and then landed in the same position.

Welcome back, Tami!!!!

_MG_5773

While waiting for Crystal to arrive and tell us about Virginia….we danced to John Denver’s “Country Roads”!

_MG_5769_MG_5770_MG_5771

When she arrived, one of the first things we learned is that the great state of Virginia is also called “The Birthplace of our Nation.”

_MG_5775

Crystal spoke with her native accent and shared that in VA, you don’t say “Kai”, you say “Kah”. She also taught us “ya’ll”! When she said the number ten, it sounded like “tin”!

_MG_5781_MG_5779

She showed us a picture of the Blue Ridge Mountains and explained why they are blue. Friends practiced saying “Appalachia”, the southern way.

_MG_5783

We learned that before Kai was born, she and David would hike many different mountains in VA. We also learned that Indiana doesn’t have an official mountain, only hills.

_MG_5784

_MG_5786

_MG_5788_MG_5789

_MG_5790

Then we learned that of all our nation’s presidents, 8 of them were born in Virginia!

_MG_5792

Jane showed us a picture of our 29th president’s (Warren G. Harding) dog, “Laddie Boy”!

_MG_5793

She showed us the Virginia state flag and we heard some Latin words: Sic Semper Tyrannis: “Thus always to tyrants”.

We gathered around the table and tasted a two VA favorite: ham biscuits and peanuts!

_MG_5800

We saw a picture of how peanuts grow underground.

Happy Tuesday!

**We’re asking parents who have any extra grocery bags (for our dirty diapers) to please bring them in. Our supply is dwindling and we’re running out! Thanks so much! Smile

Chloe started off her morning reading “We All Go Travelling By”. She flipped the pages as she was singing with the music! She loves starting her morning off with different books that also have a CD with music.

DSC02922

Zoey’s morning started with floor time. She started on her back and rolled to her belly. She propped herself up with her arms and reached for a toy. She is a big fan of floor time and gaining strength in different muscles in her body.

DSC02923DSC02927

Later, she found her thumb as well as her feet. She is beginning to grasp both feet and pull them toward her. Lately, Zoey has been finding her thumb which comforts her.

DSC03008DSC03012

Marina and Chloe enjoyed watching the rain outside as they jumped on the jungle gym this morning.

DSC02934

Clara and Emma joined one another on the jungle gym. Emma enjoyed standing at the bottom of the slide while slipping off at the end. Clara wiggled her way through a small hole on the side of the jungle gym. Their gross motor skills were in high gear!

DSC02942DSC02944DSC02946

P.K. gave Miss Marty a hug as she read a book to a group of friends.

DSC02948

Marina went around the classroom taking pictures of her friends. She said, “ Smile!” as her friends looked her way. Our friends are taking what they see in real life and applying it to their play within the classroom. For example, taking pictures and talking on the phone.

DSC02956

Ellie read a book about fish. There was a combination of talking going on. She knew most of the words that were in the story. To fill in the words that she didn’t know, she made it up. Not only does this show the skill of comprehending and memorizing what is read to you but the ability to make up your own story.

DSC02964

Emma enjoyed looking at the pictures in a Mickey book! She pointed to the characters and laughed out loud.

DSC03005

This morning our friends were involved in a sensory activity involving water color paint. We used a variety of colors.

Clara used all of the colors that were available. She stroked the paper very softly. While using her paintbrush, she dabbed the paper as well as brushed the paper making a line.

DSC02966DSC02969

Chloe enjoyed looking at the colors that were in the glass containers. She used blue and as she was painting a blue stroke, she said, “Soft, nice”. She reiterated throughout her painting time to have soft and gentle strokes.

DSC02975DSC02980

Marina took up most of the space provided to her on her paper. She took the tip of her brush and pushed it on the paper. Some of the paint splattered which she thought looked, “nice”. Her fingers got a little messy but she said, “Clean up later.”

DSC02985DSC02996

P.K. took his time at the art easel. He approached it with caution and looked at the blank piece of paper. He looked in each container filled with paint before he began. While painting, he switched colors multiple times. When he was done with green, he did a great job at putting the green brush back where it belonged. He caught himself a few times putting the brush into the wrong color!

DSC02998DSC03001

A work in progress this morning while painting with water colors!

DSC02988

For breakfast, our friends enjoyed cheerios and fresh pears. Lunch consisted of quiche, banana, corn, and cottage cheese. PM snack was rice cakes with soy butter.

Have a terrific evening!

Croissants and Jam! Croissants and Jam! Our Wee Friends are Parisians!!!

_MG_5760

_MG_5757_MG_5745

We had the great fortune this morning of having Simon’s mom, Alexandra, come and tell us the story of their trip to Paris.

_MG_5731

They crossed the English Channel onboard an underwater train. Simon was hoping to see the water when he and his brother looked out the window, but he saw only the black of the tunnel walls. It took them 2 1/2 hours to cross 22 miles of water.  Elliott shared that, he too, has been on a train but it had three signals and was not underwater. Jane shared that she has been on a ferry when she went to visit her grandpa.

_MG_5733_MG_5734

Kai recognized that the French flag had the colors of the US flag, but the design of the Italian flag.

_MG_5735

_MG_5738

_MG_5740_MG_5739

They visited many museums. Nate recognized the Louvre and the famous Mona Lisa: “I have that on my TV at home!” he shared. Simon’s favorite place was a work of art that he got to be inside of!

_MG_5748

_MG_5750_MG_5749

Alexandra taught Wee Friends many French phrases and introduced us to Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans, which she read aloud.

_MG_5752

Afterwards, she shared a favorite Parisian snack: croissants and jam! She explained that  French children always drink cocoa with their croissants!

_MG_5759

THANK YOU Alexandra and Simon for bringing Paris to WF and for the opportunity to learn about, yet another, rich city in our World of Wonder!

Happy Friday!

Yesterday for snack, our friends enjoyed blueberry yogurt. They sure liked it!

DSC02790DSC02791DSC02787

While Ellie was on vacation, she celebrated her 3rd birthday! Today at Wee Wee Friends, we celebrated with her. She brought in a delicious treat to share with her friends.

DSC02795

Clara and Emma studied themselves in the mirror. They loved seeing their reflection and making silly faces. Clara touched the mirror with her hand and Emma put her face close to the mirror! Our friends are very interested in their reflection and what they see in the mirror.

DSC02800DSC02872

Ellie also looked at herself in the mirror. She admired the hat she was wearing and said, “I like it!”

DSC02813

Ellie noticed that Miss Marty had gum in her mouth. Our friends watched as Miss Marty blew multiple bubbles!

DSC02815

Chloe sat quietly as she worked with a castle. She used different toys along with the castle itself such as people and cars.

DSC02832

After a few days of having an icky cold, Zoey got back in the swing of things at Wee Wee Friends! She was smiles and loved seeing her friends! Children gave Zoey toys to play with throughout the day. She is growing everyday and we are enjoying watching her make personal relationships with her friends and teachers.

DSC02884DSC02886

We travelled outside where our older Wee Friends were able to get their face painted! Miss Lisa offered to paint Marina and P.K’s faces!

Marina had a sun painted on her cheek.

DSC02837DSC02839

P.K. had “PK” painted on his forehead! He enjoyed this very much!

DSC02841DSC02842

A few of the girls sat over in the chairs looking at the sun. They enjoyed the warm weather since it’s been raining the past few days.

DSC02845DSC02847

New chalk was brought out for our friends to play with! Clara, Ellie and Marina enjoyed drawing with the chalk. They started at the chalk board and then headed to the cement where they also drew pictures.

DSC02848DSC02849DSC02852

Chloe got two plates outside and played pretend. She brought her food up to her friends for them to eat. Our friends’ ability to play pretend is great and growing everyday!

DSC02856

Clara ran to the door as she let everyone know she was ready for lunch! Chloe soon followed and we headed in for lunch!

DSC02857DSC02860

For breakfast, children had English muffins with cinnamon and apples. AM snack was corn. Lunch consisted of turkey sandwiches with whole wheat bread, mixed vegetables, and pears. PM snack was a very special treat that Ellie brought in for her birthday! It was a delicious carrot, oatmeal, and raisin bar. We loved it! Thanks to Ellie and her family!
