We started our Wednesday with playdough! Friends had a great time poking their playdough full of holes with golf teas. Sonya also used her golf teas to carves lines in the dough. Some friends did a great job using their rollers to smooth out the playdough, while other friends used the ends to make larger holes in the dough.

Good Afternoon!

Several children participated in the table activity this morning to go along with our Valentine’s day festivities. They were busy tracing and decorating hearts for themselves and their families.

DSCN0970DSCN0979

For our snack to celebrate our special day, we had strawberries, raspberries and grapes on wooden skewers with our yogurt. Once snack was over, we all placed the cards we brought for our friends in the bags.

The light table was brought out this morning along with colored gems. We had a multitude of ages that manipulated the gems differently. Our older friends sorted the gems by color and identified which group had more or less while our younger friends used their one to one correspondence skills by counting the gems as high as they could go! They also used their color recognition to point out the different colors that they saw.

K.NS.7: Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group.

Addi decided to use four of every color and make a collage with the gems. We discussed how all of the gems were equal in number to each other.

In large group, we read, ‘Will You Be My Valentine?’ After we read the story, Lulu shared sea shells that she brought back from Florida. Each shell was passed around and we talked about how each one felt. Descriptive words we heard were bumpy, smooth, rough, and soft.

Good Afternoon!

*Just a heads up: as we prepare for conferences on Friday, there will be no electronic portfolios this week. We will start back up next week. Thank you!

Jackson started his morning off with kindergarten sign in. His brother, Max, saw him signing in and wanted to practice his name too! Miss Melinda helped him with his name and he became as focused as Jackson.

The welcome activity involved rubber heart sorters along with red gems. Friends took the gems and sorted them into the rubber trays. Jackson and Lucy took the gems and sorted them into equal piles, making sure each slot had the same number of gems.

Our younger friends used this activity as a chance to brush up on their one to one correspondence skills, using their finger to count each gem they placed into the tray.

K.NS.7: Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group.

K.NS.10: Separate sets of ten or fewer objects into equal groups.

We were busy creating with magnatiles all morning long! Maddie created a zoo. Inside of her zoo, she stationed a zoo keeper to look after her array of animals.

DSCN0919DSCN0941

Jackson was persistent about creating a structure that stood over his container of animals. He worked tirelessly until finally, it stayed! Of course, when our friends are proud of their hard work and accomplishments, they ask for a picture to be taken Smile.

During large group, we brought back a beloved friend: TACKY! We love Tacky and his abnormal way of living life! After reading, ‘Tacky Goes To Camp’, we dissected the book by figuring out what characters were apart of the story, where the story took place, and the important events that happened. Each friend raised their hand, sharing an important event to document.

K.RL.2.3: Identify important elements of the text (e.g., characters, settings, or events).
