Good morning!

We were quite low today which allowed for a quiet, low key day.

Many of our friends became involved at the art table or with puzzles! Riley asked to make another bird feeder and friends soon flocked to the table with him.

Anna and Rosemary occupied the tent while Elijah got his swinging quota in for the day. The new red swing is by far our favorite swing that we have available!

Calix played a letter game where he threw bean bags on various circles and we talked about the letter the bag landed on. For example, he threw a bean bag on the letter ‘C’. He said, “Hey! That’s C for Calix!”

Today we made something special for the birds. We started out with a plain pinecone.   Next we had to spread shortening all over it before applying Cheerios. Each child made 2 so they could have one here and another one at home. We’ll have to wait and see what’s left of them here at school tomorrow or when we get back from our Christmas break.

Our day was also filled with building, with blocks, swinging, working on puzzles or enjoying a great story.

DSCN6082DSCN6084DSCN6088DSCN6093

The highlight of our morning was that it was warm enough for us to go out and play in the  snow! We made snowballs, took turns sliding down the hill on the sleds and checked to see how fast we could go down the slides in our snow pants. We had a blast!

Our friends made birdfeeders today!

Fist, we rolled pinecones in shortening. This was the messy part; more than one friend was rubbing their hands together to feel the slippery shortening on their skin.

Then, after sneaking a few, we stuck Cheerios to the pinecones.

Ta da! Birdfeeders ready to take home and hang outside!

Breakfast was Kix and oranges. Lunch consisted of whole grain brown rice with chicken, blueberries, and green beans. Afternoon snack was graham crackers and blueberries.

This morning Ruby asked for the basket of finger puppets to play with and her friends soon joined her. Their favorites to play with are the mice puppets. They put them on their fingers, hold them up, and say “squeak squeak!”

After the puppets, we all went into the kitchen to stomp all over bubble wrap!

DSCN0310DSCN0320DSCN0305

This afternoon we played with our new indoor snowballs! These are lots of fun to throw around the room! We got out a big block for our friends to toss the snowballs into. They filled it up and dumped it out many times.

Breakfast was Chex and blueberries. Lunch consisted of whole wheat flat bread with chicken avocado, oranges, and carrots. Afternoon snack was blue corn chips and block cheese.

Hello–

**Since we have a few more days left until Christmas break, as a reminder here are the days that we’re closed—Monday, December 26th through Friday, January 6th. We’ll reopen Monday, January 9th.

It was a world of creations this morning.

The trio blocks have been the hot commodity this week. Different structures were made this morning including a boat! Open ended building materials such as the trio blocks allow for anything to happen; the possibilities are endless. There is no ‘right’ way to build something. It’s through activities like this that we truly get to know the child; what they like and how their mind works!

Pine cones, beads, glitter, and pipe cleaners were put out at the art table for children to use. After painting the pine cone of their choice, children decorated the pine cone to their liking!

DSCN5980DSCN5982

Our younger friends are challenging themselves with foam puzzles as of late. Children will try to do as much as they can by themselves before asking for help, if needed. Puzzles allow children to work on their fine motor skills as well as their spatial relations. David finished the firetruck all by himself—we know this because when he was done, he shouted, “I did it!”

Breakfast– Whole grain oatmeal with cinnamon and blueberries.

Lunch– Chicken avocado salad on tortillas, pears/banana, and green beans.

PM snack– Blue corn chips with refried beans.

Wee Sprout– Green beans.

Have a great night!

Additionally, for now, if you are taking any photos at WF for any reason at drop off or pick up, please check in with us first before posting any photos on social media. In advance, I appreciate you working with us on this!

Ruby brought in books for the classroom that we all enjoyed reading this morning. One of the books, we were excited to discovered, had a page full of stickers!
