Today to go along with our message board, the children had a table top activity to help them understand the meaning of the word opposite.

They were able to show off their creativity and imaginative skills through play dough, building with blocks or dressing up in housekeeping.

Our friends all took turns painting at the easel this morning. We used paint in fall colors to decorate the classroom for the season.

This morning Miss Rebekah brought out the shaving cream to provide us with a different sensory experience that we haven’t done in a while. We also added some of our cars to it to see all the different wheel tracks we could make. While we were driving our cars many friends thought of the book Duck in the Truck which talks about a duck who needed help from animal friends to get his truck stuck out of the mud, but for us getting it unstuck from the shaving cream.

Our friend, Maddie also wore a neat Halloween shirt. A majority of the friends went into the bathroom with Miss Melinda who then turned out the light to see what happened with her shirt. How exciting to see a shirt that glows in the dark.

A nice story, puzzles, and journaling are a nice way to spend time together.

Please note: Now that the weather is getting colder, please be sure your child has a jacket/coat that will keep them warm when we go out in the mornings and afternoons.

We started our Tuesday morning with the foam puzzles after a few of our friends asked to play with them. The puzzles are all animal themed and our friends enjoy identifying the images and figuring out where the pieces belong on their puzzle board.

We went to the garden today to see how the tomatoes were growing. Our friends all love to walk through the garden and observe the different plants in it.

DSCN5157DSCN5161

Looking at the plants lead to looking at the leaves on the ground. A couple of the children would pick up one leaf at a time, while others picked up whole handfuls. A couple more brought their handfuls to the bench to add to a pile.

In the afternoon we enjoyed time in the gross motor area together. We played on the habitrail, with the big blocks, and on the soft star slide and teeter totters.

Good Afternoon!

**Just a reminder that we will hold a Halloween parade at 4:00 PM next Monday (October 31st). We will dress our friends in their costumes shortly before the parade and weather permitting, will walk throughout the neighborhood spreading our Halloween joy! Smile

Well it was our last day at swim! Our friends enjoyed this session so much and gained useful knowledge. Here’s what our friends enjoyed the most:

Max: “Jump off the diving board!”

Jackson: “Jumping off the diving board!”

Tate: “Jumping off the diving board!”

Addi: “Using the barbells.”

Maddie: “Doing chicken, airplane, pencil.”

Lulu: “When I swam all by myself.”

Lucy: “Being done with swimming.”

Back here in Wee land..

We enjoyed our indoor and outdoor spaces this morning.

In large group:

We read various stories including, “The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear”. Before reading our stories, we talked about the differences between a period, exclamation mark, and question mark. Once we discussed what each one was and how it was used, we started reading our story. I told everyone to keep an eye out for these three marks that end a sentence. After the first page, multiple hands were raised as friends shared where they recognized these marks and called them by name.

We found two examples of periods, exclamation marks, and question marks and wrote the sentences on the chalk board. “Can we keep looking for them?!”—Even though we found various examples of all three marks, we kept looking for them throughout all of our stories! (K.W.6.2b)

Our morning was full of fine motor activities including magnatiles and pegs with peg board.

We used our imagination to build creations. Tate used the pegs to build a light saber while Lucy made a rainbow out of the pegs.

Here’s a short article about fine motor development and certain activities that can be done at home (WF as well) to strengthen our fine motor skills.
