Good Afternoon!

Our morning consisted of our usual: welcome activity, sign in board, and breakfast!

The rest of our morning consisted of:

Habitrail play which can vary from moving out body throughout the environment to intricate building using various tools and manipulatives.

Reading using various sources such as YouTube. One of our favorite stories is ‘Mortimer’ by Robert Munsch. There’s a YouTube video where Robert Munsch reads the story aloud. Our friends LOVE his rendition of the story (they have it down to a T).

Creative play as well as the art table. We’ve been using the science area for light building lately that we incorporate into our play. The stools aren’t JUST stools.. Smile.

Thankfully the rain held off as we headed outside for a morning full of movement and fresh air.

In large group, we read, ‘Being Frank’. We were talking about the book at the lunch tables because I was holding onto it. Someone said, “Who’s Frank?” Lucy responded, “You know? Like Frank Sinatra.”

During large group, ‘Being Frank’ was about a little boy who was honest to a fault. We found out though that sometimes being completely truthful about everything can sometimes hurt an adult or friends feelings. Throughout the story, Frank found a way to still tell the truth but make sure that he wasn’t hurting his friends feelings in the process.

A few of our large group comments:

“We better always tell the truth or that’s when Mommy and Daddy can put us in timeout!”

“It’s not nice to lie! I don’t do it.”

Happy November!

It was a morning full of sensory experiences.

The sensory tub was opened for friends to investigate and manipulate moon sand! Using various tools, children can alter or change the form of the moon sand. Friends can do this activity individually or team up with one of their peers!

DSCN2804DSCN2834

The art easel was made available as well. Children were very patient waiting for a turn as we had two spots that were open at a time. Before we even got started, we had to refill the paint jars so Lucy and Calix helped me by telling me what colors I needed.

DSCN2807DSCN2816DSCN2819

It was an absolutely GORGEOUS first day of November. Imaginary play occurred all throughout the backyard as friends took full advantage of the day.

DSCN2857DSCN2867DSCN2870

In large group, we read two stories. In each story, we used our predicting skills to figure out would could happen in the story. The first story we read feature our favorite character as of late, Tacky! The story was titled, ‘Tacky In Trouble’. Before we even started reading it, we questimated what Tacky could be getting in trouble for. On the front cover, Tacky was shown standing next to a big elephant so most of our guesses included the elephant! We used the pictures that were given to us to guide our answers.

After we got done reading our stories, we conducted our daily calendar check-in. Jackson pointed to a certain day on the calendar and asked what it was. I said, “Well that’s Election Day”. This sparked a child-geared conversation about our President and various thoughts/comments that our friends wanted to share. Not only did we find out that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are running for President (yes..totally child initiated!) but various questions were asked such as:

“Does that mean that Obama is going to die?”

–That’s when I explained that each President can only be in office for a maximum of 8 years. We talked about what the President does exactly. Maddie also let us know that Washington was a President as well! I mentioned that he was the first President of the United States! “That must have been a long time ago!”—Smile

We had a FABULOUS first day of November. We hope you did too!

Good morning!

A late ‘happy birthday’ to Grady! He turned three years old yesterday!

DSCN2721

**A note: We got a donation from a Wee Friends mom on Monday. We got a TON of paper for our friends to use at the art table. The paper sheets are work sheets from her work. HOWEVER, we are just using them as scrap paper for our friends to color on and are NOT implementing the activities on the worksheets. Thanks!

Our computer was not functional yesterday but was back in action today!

So..here are some pictures from yesterday as well as from our Halloween parade. We want to thank everyone for the turnout! It was AWESOME!

Today to go along with our message board, the children had a table top activity to help them understand the meaning of the word opposite.

They were able to show off their creativity and imaginative skills through play dough, building with blocks or dressing up in housekeeping.

Our friends all took turns painting at the easel this morning. We used paint in fall colors to decorate the classroom for the season.

This morning Miss Rebekah brought out the shaving cream to provide us with a different sensory experience that we haven’t done in a while. We also added some of our cars to it to see all the different wheel tracks we could make. While we were driving our cars many friends thought of the book Duck in the Truck which talks about a duck who needed help from animal friends to get his truck stuck out of the mud, but for us getting it unstuck from the shaving cream.

DSCN2447DSCN2484

Our friend, Maddie also wore a neat Halloween shirt. A majority of the friends went into the bathroom with Miss Melinda who then turned out the light to see what happened with her shirt. How exciting to see a shirt that glows in the dark.

A nice story, puzzles, and journaling are a nice way to spend time together.
