Good Afternoon!

We worked with baby dolls and dress up clothes this morning. A couple of us are working on putting dress clothes on by ourselves. Self initiation becomes quite evident at this age!

We’ve got a few milestones that are quickly approaching for our babes! Anna is working on standing by herself while Annabelle is scooting especially to toys she wants. David is pushing his arms up while laying on the floor along with working on sitting up.

Have a terrific night.

WF Tuesday 2/17 Finding the Vertices

It’s a big idea and a big mouthful of a word, but we did find vertices around us. Not a vortex, but a vertex. And as it turns out, when you look for a vertex, it’s pretty easy to find. (MATH FAB K.4.2)

WF Monday 2/16

Happy Monday!

Here at Wee Friends our curriculum is driven from both teacher observations and children interest. This was evident today as several friends expressed their interests. Our friend Elizabeth demonstrated  FAB K.7.2 [Share information and ideas, speaking in complete, coherent sentences] as she explained how sinkholes work. After drawing a picture and sharing her information, Elizabeth and friends worked together in the Moon Sand to create their very own sinkhole.

Another friend, Eleanor, expressed interest in black holes. After a discussion of what she already knew about black holes and questions she had, she and a teacher conducted research on the computer and in our science library. Pictures of black holes were fascinating to many friends!

Exploring children’s interests together keeps them engaged and loving learning.

Have a great start to your week. -Jessica

Happy Friday!

We were feeling the LOVE today.

IMG_4255

By far, our biggest love is literacy.

IMG_4246IMG_4266

Our love of gross motor play is always evident.

IMG_4272IMG_4273

Our tremendous love of water play (especially washing the baby).

IMG_4288IMG_4310

We enjoyed building with blocks. We all LOVE building towers and then knocking them over.

IMG_4325IMG_4329IMG_4334

Our growing love for everything animal.

IMG_4338IMG_4341IMG_4346

We even found LOVE in our food. Lucy picked up her soy butter on tortilla and “HEART!”

IMG_4315IMG_4316

For breakfast, children had kix and banana. Lunch consisted of soy butter on tortillas, peppers, and pears. PM snack was Tami’s homemade heart shaped sugar cookies and string cheese.

Good Afternoon!

Nahla and Rosemary were sure happy to see Tate arrive this morning!

IMG_4187IMG_4190

Housekeeping was quite packed this morning as friends chose to work with baby dolls and kitchen toys. Nahla made sure to give her baby doll extra snuggles!

IMG_4209IMG_4211IMG_4215

Our favorite song was requested after snack. Friends really let it all go as they twirled around the room! These pictures really don’t capture how enthused we were Smile. As a group, we belted out “let it go” in unison.

For breakfast, children had Chex and banana. Lunch consisted of brown rice with cheese, apples, and corn. PM snack was cheddar block cheese and oranges.

WF Thursday 2/12

Here at Wee Friends we love new things. Whether they are new books, new tools or new information we are eager to take it all in.

Today we listened to some new books from the library! A favorite was “This is Not My Hat” by Jon Klassen. Many re-readings and giggles.

Daniel discovered a workspace that was fairly unknown to him, the workbench! This week he has spent much time working with tools new to him: nails, hammer, screws, screwdriver and drill.

016017

Today friends also discovered new information. Laurie taught some friends about dinosaurs, explaining what they looked like and how they moved. Perfect to go along with another new library book, “Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs” by Mo Williams.
