WF 4/10 Take Two w/ album

011

A Fancy Nancy Glow in the Dark book brought many of our friends together and squished under a dark table to explore how exactly a glow in the dark book glows. Another group of friends preferred the very dark bathroom to examine the book.

040

“When will the thunder happen again?” asked Lea.

020

The rain kept us indoors but our minds and bodies stayed active. Mel’s Alphabet Challenge had friends searching for particular letters all over the classroom. They were stuck on ‘x’ for quite a while.

048

Tami set up the tunnel for a gross motor ‘under the earth worm hunt’.

060061

Friends had a Wee Weigh in and learned how much their bodies weigh.

065

We continued exercising our bodies by playing Wee Friends Twister. We honed in on helping our friends follow on-step verbal directives.

072

After singing “We All Sing in the Same Voice”, we explored voice dynamics loud/quiet, soft/hard, high/low/middle. We read Bedhead by Margie Palatini and went on a Boing Hunt (to discover who had boingy, curly hair!).

Wee Sprouts: Carrots. Breakfast: Oatmeal and bananas. Lunch: Brown rice with chicken, peas and strawberry/banana fruit salad. Snack: Hard boiled eggs and pear slices.

Have a great day!

Happy Tuesday!

We spent a good amount of time outside this morning and afternoon before the rain hit. When we were outside this afternoon, it started to sprinkle so our friends opened up their mouths to try to get a drink of water. Clara said, “Water on my face!” while Eve let Miss Mindy know “hand wet!”

The sand box was an important area for us today. Not only do we enjoy the sensorial benefits of the sand but our imagination goes wild! Daniel and P.K. made sand food while Clara covered her legs with sand.

WF Tuesday 4/9

002

We were able to sneak our camera in today to catch some our swimmers at work!

008

While the swimmers were away we worked in the classroom with books. Mel had friends pull books off the shelves and stack them into four categories: 1) TV/movies, 2) Holiday, 3) young reader and 4) Chapter books. Literacy FAB K.1.19asks us to “learn and apply knowledge of alphabetical order (first letter) when using a classroom library.” Using bright pink tape, we taped a letter to 26 board books and had friends alphabetize them.

016

Lisa Update: We spoke to Lisa this am and she sends hugs to all! She is feeling quite well, able to move about more and more and the doctor has given her the green light to drive! We send her our continued best thoughts for a quick recovery!

Wee Sprouts: Cucumbers. Breakfast: Chex and pear slices. Lunch: Whole wheat tortillas with hummus, green beans and apple slices. Snack: Bananas and peanuts.

Have a great day!

Inside we had a relaxed Monday morning filled with art, games, books, building, housekeeping and YES, a full hour and 15 minutes of  outside time that was mostly sunshine!  There was also the beginning stage of a science experiment that will leave our cubby area smelling like vinegar for the next few days.  Sorry about that!

Breakfast was whole wheat toast/PB and fresh pear slices.  Wee Sprouts were cucumbers and sweet peppers.  Lunch was whole wheat pasta/lentils, corn, and fresh strawberries.  Yum!  Snack will be whole wheat crackers and cream cheese.

Happy Friday!

Clara played music this morning for her friends. She played the piano with her hands and feet! Children love to experiment with different instruments and how to play them.

007008

Our big friend Sydney read us a story that had us follow directions. Eve followed Sydney’s direction and touched her hands to her feet.

011012

And we’re off! We took a nice long walk. During our walk, we heard birds, dogs, and cars. Our friends were very aware of their surroundings!

013014

We all bundled together and made ourselves comfortable!

013018

Daniel and Clara leaned back to get comfortable and made a P.K. sandwich!

WF Friday 4/5 What is Your True Nature?

007006

008009

An interesting conversation today, after reading “Slowly, Slowly, Slowly” Said the Sloth, had many friends contemplating their True Natures. From the Sloth to The Very Clumsy Click Beetle, page after page of Eric Carle books educate young (and old!) readers about the very nature of living things. “That’s just how I am.” says the Sloth. Likewise, at Wee Friends, in our classroom of 2,3,4 and 5 year olds, we are, minute by minute celebrating and experiencing the very truest natures of our growing peeps! Is it possible not to be living your truest nature from 2 to 5? Happy Weekend.

Wee Sprouts: Sweet peppers. Breakfast: Oatmeal and raisins. Lunch:

Good Afternoon!

As we headed outside this morning, we found out that it was even nicer outside than yesterday! Not only did we love being outside for most of the morning and afternoon but our energy was high which allowed us to take excellent naps. It’s important to get that outside time not only to relieve energy but we get to bond with other children from the Wee house! When asked if he wanted to go outside this morning, P.K. responded with “That sounds fun. I love going outside.” Smile

WF Thursday 4/4 “Step Up Here for Your Tattoos!”

010

…..announced Captain Finn! CF came to school loaded with a slew of tattoos to share with his friends. And some of them were pretty scary. “All the scary ones, I’m giving to me.” he assured us.

028

There were lots of questions about tattoos: “How many days to tattoos stay on?”, “Do tattoos talk?”, “Are tattoos like stickers?” Friends practiced counting to 30 because that’s how many seconds we had to hold the damp towel over the tattoo.

When Ellie walked in today, she smelled like spring! “Mommy put lotion on me.” she explained.

029

Later, Mel continued number recognition and counting with a game of UNO.

037

Debbie worked with a small group on the front porch, discussing turtles. They examined photos of turtles and talked about the shell. We have a jar of three empty turtle shells and friends mused over where the turtles went and why they might have gone.

041

Mel invited friends to the snack table for a taste test. Using carrots, friends dipped into mustard, ketchup, mayo, hummus and yogurt. We charted friends preferences.

088

119

“We got ideas!” shouted Max as he and Elliott built beneath the habitrail.

018

016

After lunch, Mel’s small group read Down by the Cool of the Pool by Tony Mitten. Laurie’s group read Hello, Red Fox by Eric Carle and talked about the word INSPIRE in relation to how Eric Carle discovers story ideas for his books. “What inspires you?” we discussed.

Wee Sprouts: Sweet peppers and carrots. Breakfast: Corn Chex and oranges. Lunch: Farm fresh egg casserole, corn and pear slices. Snack: Yogurt and crackers.

025

Have a great day.

Hello!

Today, we were able to get a ton of vitamin D as we headed outside to play! Throughout the morning and the afternoon, friends interacted with their peers from both WWF and WF! The sandbox and bike circle were a few of our main focuses during outside time.
