Good Afternoon!

**This will be the last blog of the week. I will be out the rest of the week including next Monday. See you back here next Tuesday!

A few of our friends completed their art projects this morning since they didn’t get to yesterday for one reason or another.

Emma loved using the sparkles in her paint. She pointed to the sparkles as she saw them.

DSC09643DSC09646

Daniel was specific about his painting experience today. When he wanted a new color, he pushed the old one away and said, “all done”.

DSC09651DSC09654

For Zoey’s art experience, a piece of colored construction paper was placed in a zip lock bag. Paint was squeezed into the bag along with glitter. Zoey took her hands and smashed the paint in the bag to make beautiful artwork! It was all her own and she loved being able to physically make the art Smile.

DSC09660DSC09661DSC09664

Emma swayed back and forth as Miss Marty read our friends ‘Baby Beluga’. Most of our friends know the tune of the book so they hum along with us!

DSC09655DSC09656

Smiles, smiles, smiles on this Tuesday!

DSC09670DSC09672DSC09675

For breakfast, friends had cheerios and pears. Lunch consisted of tortillas with melted cheese and refried beans, banana, and zucchini. PM snack was vanilla yogurt and animal crackers.

Have a terrific week!

Today, Tami reported that the swimmers are making great progress! Several friends have mastered putting their heads under water. Others, who wear flotation devices, have had layers of the bubble inserts removed, offering less support. They are slowly moving out of flotation help altogether!

While the swimmers were away, a small group of friends talked about the Grinch. We cut out large and small hearts and remembered how the Grinch’s heart started small (grouchy/mean or hitting friends) and by the end of the story, his heart grew and opened up (he liked to share and speak kindly to his friends). We taped hearts of all sizes to our tree collage.

Elliott, Sloane and Lea had a discussion about dinner. Lea and Sloane imagined that the puzzles in the basket were their dinner. “Puzzles are not dinner.” replied Elliott. “Yes, they are.” responded Lea. “Uh-huh.” nodded Sloaners. “No. Only food is dinner.” insisted Elliot. This debate led to a discussion about how we use our imagination and how people see things in different ways.  It was a smooth conversation and gradually ended with each friend satisfied and ready to move on.

Wee Sprouts: Cucumber slices. Breakfast: Kix and pears slices. Lunch: Whole wheat tortillas with refried beans and cheese, romaine salad and bananas. Snack: Yogurt and apple slices.

Good Afternoon!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

We headed outside where we saw small snow flakes flying through the air. We bundled up because it was so cold! We stayed outside for a little while because our fingers and face started getting cold! If parents could make sure that their child comes with hats AND gloves everyday, that would be fabulous! Thanks!

We watched out the window as we saw big snow flakes come down! We loved looking at the snow as it stuck to the ground.

DSC09616DSC09618DSC09620]

Since the weather was cold and the flakes were flying ‘round, we took turns in the kitchen where friends painted using tempera paint as well as water colors.  The sensorial aspect of the paint was just what our friends needed this afternoon Smile.

Hello!

Our morning started off with a rousing rendition of house keeping play! Friends initiated play while teachers joined in. We made pancakes and eggs!

DSC09434DSC09435DSC09436

We talked about pretending to sip our cups or eat our food.

DSC09437DSC09442DSC09443

Children gathered around the faucet to fill their cups up with water.

DSC09444DSC09447DSC09449

P.K. really enjoyed his water! Clara used a spoon to pick up her bread. She took a pretend bit and said “yummy!”

DSC09451DSC09438DSC09452

P.K. made a long row of waffle blocks. He used his fine motor skills to put them together one by one.

DSC09453

Friends were invited into the kitchen where they worked with shaving cream. They ran their fingers and hands through the velvety white substance. We hid cars and buttons in the cream and our friends found them!

DSC09455DSC09456DSC09458

We had Mrs. Claus make an appearance! Smile

DSC09460DSC09461

Children took their hands and ran their fingers along the table to make a line in the shaving cream.

DSC09462DSC09478

We all had so much fun! Children were much more willing to experiment with the shaving cream than the previous time.

DSC09486DSC09487DSC09488

While children were taking turns in the kitchen with the shaving cream, some of our Wee Wee’s experimented with circular rings while listening to music.

DSC09466DSC09467DSC09469

Some chose to put them on the ground and jump in their while some put them around their neck.

DSC09470DSC09473DSC09474

P.K. made a special train track this afternoon. He took his trains and pushed them down the track. Clara soon joined in the fun!

DSC09511DSC09514

One of our neighbors has beautiful Christmas lights. Friends P.K. and Clara went on the ladder and looked outside at the lights!

DSC09530

We love sitting around the table eating our food and talking with our friends and teachers.

DSC09498

Clara started using a big girl cup today! It’s a special time in the eating portion of the day Smile.

DSC09499

Boy, do we love soy butter!

DSC09500DSC09502DSC09503

It was an awesome afternoon snack!

DSC09505

For breakfast, children had cinnamon toast squares and oranges. Lunch consisted of chicken noodle soup, banana, and cucumber. The chicken noodle soup was great for those of us suffering from a cold and cough! PM snack was rice cakes with soy butter and string cheese.

Have a terrific night.

WWF, We Spotted Santa Claus!, 12/5/2012

DSC09411DSC09424DSC09416

Good Afternoon!

We saw ‘HIM’ today. Dressed in red and black with a long white beard. He was walking over to Wee Friends to participate in the wonderful caroling that went on throughout the neighborhood. Our friends were amazed at the sighting of Santa!

We watched out the window as our older Wee Friends started to walk around to different houses around the neighborhood.

DSC09387DSC09388

We watched as they went across the street to sing to our neighbors.

DSC09389DSC09390

Of course we wanted to hear the amazing singing as well. So we sat on the front porch and listened to our Wee Friends sing lovely holiday songs.

DSC09392

Most of our morning consisted of puzzles. We completed our puzzles by ourselves and with some of our friends. A few of us completed our puzzles without any help (WOW!) We were sure proud of ourselves.

DSC09355DSC09356DSC09358

We used our fine motor skills to put the pieces into the correct place. We had a lot of patience this morning as we worked on a few difficult puzzles.

DSC09360DSC09361DSC09365

Eve says, “Cheese!”

DSC09368

We gathered in the kitchen where friends took turns cooking up delicious meals!

DSC09369DSC09371DSC09376

Team work and cooperation are a wonderful tool to have during group play.

DSC09381

Eve stacked different sized cups together.

DSC09384[4]DSC09385

Friends huddled around Miss Marty as she read stories.

DSC09394DSC09396

Throughout the day at Wee Wee Friends, many faces are made. We see silly faces. We see happy faces (which are the best!). We also see confused and frustrated faces (which happen to all of us at some point or another). Smile

DSC09404DSC09409DSC09418

DSC09421DSC09425DSC09427

Eren and Emma played peek-a-boo!

DSC09428DSC09429

P.K. wanted a book read to him at the end of the day. Miss Mindy asked if he could read the book to her instead. He talked about the book throughout and pointed to different important points within the story.

DSC09430DSC09431

For breakfast, we had malto-meal and pears. AM snack was green peas. Lunch consisted of egg casserole with cheese and hash browns (delicious!), banana, and green peas. PM snack was goldfish and raisins.

Have a great evening!
