Today our WWF played at the kitchen table with shaving cream. The children love spreading it through out the table and drawing shapes with their finger. The soft feeling and stickiness of it makes it a rich sensorial experience.
From shaving cream at the table they went to water play at the sink. The mixture of shaving cream and water made it extra interesting and fun. Teachers assisted the children with words to describe what they were experiencing.
Outside time today was spent picnicking on the pea gravel circle, right outside the log cabin. Children prepared themselves for the picnic inside the WWF’s house first. They grabbed their picnic baskets and choosing some pretend food and utensil to put in it. They also brought sunhats and blankets. Teachers brought some cucumber sticks as a snack and children loved them. Our picnic theme has become such a great opportunity to converse about foods drinks and places. It has also inspired great deal of self-initiated pretend play.
For reading aloud today we read “The Best Picnic Ever” by Clare Jarret and “Oso Pardo, Oso Pardo, ¿Qué ves ahí?” by Eric Carle (Spanish version of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?).
We will enjoy the sunny afternoon with some outdoors activities, possibly watering our plants, painting and music.
Have a wonderful weekend!
P.S. We are on the look for some girl cloth items that may have been missed placed in the wrong cubby, please let us know if you have them. Thank you!

Hello!
We are really enjoying the pretend play that spills over to home after WWF! It is fun to hear Finn talking (as he pretends) about climbing up the log house, or taking a drink from imaginary cup, or winding up a firehose after putting out fire. It helps us to know what you all have been working on- as it comes out in his pretend play at home! Thanks so much!
