Good Afternoon!
We made a change to our group time which started today! Our K/PRE-K1 group will still be conducted the same (book, activity, and journal experience) but we’ve created a middle group which we’ll call PRE-K2! Miss Kim will do a developmentally appropriate activity with this group and then lead them through a journal experience which will happen daily! We’re excited about this change and thankful that we are able to be flexible and change things up to make sure that each child is being challenged.
K/PRE-K1 read the story, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ before being handed a card. After each child had the chance to look at their card, we worked together to put each event in order. Children came up to the board and tapped their event in the correct space.
K.1.4: Identify and order events that take place in a sequence. (2006 standard)
PRE-K2 group read the story ‘BOO!’ written by Robert Munsch. After they read the story, Miss Kim asked them the question, “How did people feel when they saw Lance’s face?”. Children wrote their name under the answer. Everyone signed under the emotion ‘scared’ which they learned throughout the story when different people saw Lance’s face!
Our 3’s/young 4’s farm trip was today! It turned out to be a beautiful morning and we want to send a huge thank you to the parents and grandparents that were able to join us!
After going over a few important farm rules, we headed down to the barn where we were able to pet bunnies. We sat on hay bales and gently said hi to the bunnies; a few of us choosing to say hello from a distance. At this age, one of the important things that we focus on is becoming comfortable around animals and showing them respect by the way that we treat them.
It ended up being a wonderful morning for a walk. On our walk, Miss Tami was able to find a slug and a worm before Franklin found two more worms!
We had a terrific fall farm trip and are so thankful that our children get to experience the farm and all that the farm offers!
