Good Afternoon!

K/PREK1: After we finished our story, we talked about being helpful in our current setting. Our older friends can be quite helpful, offering to do an errand or helping clean the art easel. We often talk about taking responsibility for our body and our toys throughout the day so the word ‘responsible’ is not new to us.

I asked, “What do you do here at Wee Friends that is helpful to your younger peers or to your teachers?”. It didn’t take children long to answer as they know exactly how they are helpful!

Social Studies: K.2.4 Give examples of how to be a responsible family member and member of a group.

There was a common theme in our journals today: people! I saw people of all shapes and sizes but one thing remained consistent: we journaled about people we know and love such as friends and family! Our journal time provides an outline for us to express what’s on our mind or in our hearts.

PREK2: After reading ‘Clifford’s Good Deeds’, friends answered the question, “How was Clifford helpful to people?”. Children had to listen to the story to be able to answer the question as there were several different events where Clifford lent a helping hand.

We decorated our environment for the next holiday! Max headed to the table where he made a holiday chain to display in the classroom. This activity was a popular one because several other different friends came to the table to construct their own holiday chain.

The term ‘busy’ couldn’t even describe the art table this morning. There were no seats left for most of the morning! Children worked on their own projects or collaborated with their peers. Lucy and a few friends worked together to make a picnic blanket out of paper and marker!

We switched out our bin of books towards the back of the house which immediately increased our curiosity. There is nothing better than exploring a new book with a friend.

Fun fact of the day: People born blind use the same facial expressions as sighted people when expressing emotions, meaning that our facial expressions are innate and not learned behavior.
