Good Afternoon.
“Early childhood education is the key to a better society.” ~Maria Montessori
There is nothing better than finding that perfect teachable moment! While reading stories this morning, a friend chose the book Blue Hat, Green Hat by Sandra Boynton. While we were reading we learned that Daniel and Miss Rebekah both have on red shirts, Evie and Jack have on yellow shirts, and Miss Marty and another friend have on blue shirts. Some of our friends are working on learning their colors and this was a great way to help with that process. We also learned that not all matching colors are exactly the same and that there are different shades to each color.
Later in the day, Jack went to the ball collection and told Miss Marty he wanted to get all the small balls out of the basket. He then placed all of his collected balls right at the end of the slide. Friends would randomly bring a larger ball to Jack and he would reply, “No, I only want little balls.” He definitely had a plan in his mind, even though none of us really knew just what he was wanting to do. But then, it all made sense as he walked around the habi-trail to get to the slide and slide down to make the balls move in all different kinds of directions.
Our friends all have wonderful imaginations that shine brightly in the classroom daily. Having an active imagination can lead to elaborate dreams, and a world of possibilities.
