Good Afternoon.
“Let the children be free; encourage them; let them run outside when it is raining; let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water; and when the grass of the meadows is wet with dew, let them run on it and trample it with their bare feet; let them rest peacefully when a tree invites them to sleep beneath its shade; let them shout and laugh when the sun wakes them in the morning.” ~Maria Montessori
What a wonderful, and powerful message from one of the greatest educators of the Montessori theory! Wee Friends has always thrived on the belief of allowing children to learn through their play, and we love seeing our friends engaged in their day and activities all while learning.
This morning as the beautiful white snow fell to the ground, we had a great time with a sensory activity. We decorated Santa hats to hang throughout our classroom. While we engage in many different types of sensory activities, this one in particular can get a little sticky! When we work with glue our friends can have different reactions to the way it feels on their fingers. Some don’t mind the feeling at all, while others don’t particularly care for it as much. We decorated our hats with gold garland, white cotton balls, all all kinds of pretty sequins. Our friends worked hard on making their hats look really nice and we had a lot of fun making them.
While decorating our hats we also watched the snow fall, listened to Jingle Bells and other Christmas songs, and sang along too. What a great morning!!!
