Good Afternoon!
**If you know that your child won’t be here for any number of days before Christmas break, please let a teacher know. We appreciate it! Thank you!
We want to wish Miss Kim a fantastic birthday that she’ll celebrate tomorrow! We hope you have a great day!
After reading, ‘Paper Bag Princess’ which is written by Robert Munsch, we looked at a map of the United States and identified Indiana. As I asked each individual child to roll up their map, each child had to name a state and try to find it. We were able to identify two states: Texas and Florida! We talked about how each state is mostly surrounded by water! As we talked about this, we brought California into the mix and pointed to it on the map.
Social Studies: K.3.2 Identify maps and globes as ways of representing Earth and understand differences between a map/globe.
PREK2 children had to identify the ‘reindeer and sleigh garage’ and once they did, they wrote their name by the garage. All week we’ve been studying maps and talking about the different things we can find on a map.
The light table was utilized this morning to decorate a tape tree with different manipulatives, mainly hexagon shapes. We filled in the tree shape and traced the outline too!
“Play is the highest expression of human development, for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul.”
