Good Afternoon!
After we read ‘Great Day For Up!’ by Dr. Seuss, we focused on the two words ‘push’ and ‘pull’. Children in K/PREK1 group worked together to define both of the words which I wrote under the notecard.
After we defined both words, we sorted many activities into one of the two categories. The first activity we had to sort was ‘move furniture’. Children thought about it for a few seconds and eventually said to put it in the ‘push’ category! Once we sorted all of the activities, they counted how many cards were in each category. It’s one of our favorite things to do in group; count the groups or categories to see which one is in the lead!
Science: K.3.2 Investigate that things move in different ways, such as fast, slow, etc.
In PREK2, children worked together to put animals in order from fastest to slowest (picture on the left). Miss Kim revealed how fast animals do move and the correct order. They also talked about how animals move differently such as run, fly, etc.
A sensory activity was made available at the art table. Children loved exploring shaving cream and running their fingers and hands along the tray. A few small animals were placed on the tray so that children could wash them. A couple kids decided to write their names in the shaving cream too!
