Happy Friday!

What a full morning we had!

We decided to head out on a walk this morning where we saw a police car parked on the side of the road, various types of flowers, TONS of American flags, and a weehicle (a white van just like ours!).

We even stopped at one point to do a few activities: jumping jacks, toe touches, and tree pose!

When we got back, we got the water table going which lead into water/mud play!

Good Afternoon and happy Friday!

PLEASE NOTE: WF/WWF will be closed Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day. Also, please bring you child at least two pairs of summer clothes for their extra’s bin. Thank you.

Today, we had an extra dose of sensory play! We enjoyed both activities but I think one definitely won out over the other. Smile

First, we enjoyed he sensory table  with a black beans and rice mixture. Then we headed outside to have some water play! We LOVED being able to use the water table, as well as simply just having fun in the water and sand.

WHAT A GREAT FRIDAY!!!!

Good Afternoon!

Rowan took Miss Nina around this morning to look for treasure (aka small pebbles, pieces of our towels, fuzz, string). When she found enough treasure, she went to the art table and drew a map of the classroom environment. She marked on the map where she found treasure and then walked around the classroom, identifying the spaces on the map where treasure was found! What an authentic learning experience involving maps and documentation!

We are loving our new blocks in our outdoor environment. Daniel was a little frustrated this morning as he was putting the new trucks down the ramp, stating, “they’re not going down the ramp fast enough!”

He thought about it and after he was given a few suggestions, he went and grabbed a green bucket to so that the ramp could lean on the lip of the bucket. He tried out his problem solving technique and eventually yelped, “It makes it go faster!”

Several friends took chalk and used it on the cement and on the chalkboard this morning! Letters could be seen on the chalkboard as well as a few words! A teacher was standing nearby just in case there were any questions regarding letters or letter formation.

Good Afternoon!

Mack and Daniel sat down to play a math game that uses dice. Each player has wooden pegs ranging from 1 to 10. They roll two dice and depending on the pegs they have showing, they’ll add or subtract the two dice so that they can put a peg down. For examples, Mack rolled a 5 and a 2. He already had the number 7 down so he decided to subtract the two numbers. He figured out that the answer was 3 so he put the 3 peg down. Evie sat down later to explore the game with Mack!

Children sat at the art table and explored making art using markers, crayons, and our favorite as of late: paint dotters!

There are an assortment of colorful paint dotters, almost mimicking the colors of the rainbow. Without direction, most children are drawn to using the dotters is a color specific way—making a whole line of red dots, followed by a line of oranges dots, and so on.

Other children use the dotters in a random fashion, making colorful dots all over the page and in no specific order. The children are using the exact same tools but the results are drastically different and unique.

Happy rainy Wednesday

This morning a friend asked if we could listen to the We’re Goin’ on a Bear Hunt song. We listened to a couple different versions and that gave Bekah and idea! Why not make our very own cave?!?! So she got a large bed sheet and did just that… Waaalah, our cave was a hit! We then danced away, and with very silly bodies I might add. Smile

Good Afternoon!

**Wee Friends will be closed Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day. Thank you!

Daniel was looking for something to do at the circle table this morning and he found a matching game which are his favorite! Soon, several friends were standing around watching him and then eventually, helping him find matches. The matches were rhyming words. For example, flag and bag went together. At the end, they had found all of the matches!

We went outside and were surprised to see several new additions to our backyard space!

The first new addition is a hoop for our new balls! Children took turns trying to throw the ball into the hoop. We saw some friends go right up to the hoop and place it in as well as friends taking a few steps back to challenge themselves as they tried to make a basket. There are so many different extensions to add into this hoop activity (addition and subtraction for example!)—we can’t wait!

IMG_8129IMG_8155

When we started using the new blocks a few weeks ago, we were trying to figure out how to do the blocks and bikes at the same time given the space that we have.

Enter: new signs! Miss Tami also purchased new ‘street’ signs for us to use when children are needing to control their bodies in a space.

Children were thrilled to help out! They took the sign bases into the sandbox so fill with sand so that they wouldn’t fall over in the wind. Once the bases were sturdy enough, we attached a sign to the top and placed it on the concrete circle.
