Hello!

Our Kindergarteners were asked to create a graph to see which snakes are poisonous, and which ones from the book were constrictors. In addition, they practiced their pattern skills using multicolored stickers on their snake printouts. For group, we continued our snake theme by reading about vipers.

Daniel wanted to draw outside, so we brought out our parachute for them to enjoy. We made small booklets with their names on it. Daniel was feeling very artistic, and asked Rowan to be his model to copy into his book. She struck a pose and he recreated what he saw.

This morning, we enjoyed a welcome activity building our own math equations using sparkly treasures. Each of us was able to work with numbers based on our abilities.  Our youngest friends counted treasures in their cups and found the corresponding numbers.  Some were able to count the total and with help create the addition problem with the wooden numbers.  Our oldest friends count do this themselves.  There were Kindergarteners who were able to create addition problems like 10+10=20 with out help.

Our mathematically inclined young man Daniel was able to do a division problem.  I asked him if he took 20 treasures and divided them in half how many would he have.  He though a minute and said 10.

Hannah did a great job with her math equation but insisted that the equal sign should be parallel…giving us a wonderful opportunity to talk about what parallels lines are.

Based on some various interests, we introduced some books to support those interest areas.  There were books on the internal workings of ship, submarines and airports.  One book was about the universe with large color photographs of Nebulas, galaxies, and planets.  We went as far as to talk about Sagittarius A*, the black hole at the center of our galaxy, star clusters and Nebulas.  Some favorites were the Crab Nebula, the Cats Eye Nebula and the Horse Head Nebula .  We learned that a Nebula is beautiful and colorful space dust that will give birth to new stars.  Some friends were so excited that they brought the book to other friends to share what they learned!
