Good afternoon Families,
Today while we were outside exploring the milkweed, we found a monarch caterpillar. Luckily we happened to have a butterfly habitat in the basement to create a place to observe our caterpillar’s growth. We filled the habitat with plenty of milkweed for the caterpillar to eat since we learned it is their only food. Everyone was eager to have a look at our classroom guest. We examined butterfly books and monarch life cycle cards. We read a book about the monarch butterfly’s life cycle and migration at small group today, so be sure to ask your child what they remember about Monarch butterflies!
This morning we explored kinetic sand and beads to see what kinds of creative ideas we could come up with during imaginative play. We had several decorated cakes, dumplings and muffins. We also had some little mosaics that made for some beautifully ephemeral art work.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
