Good Afternoon!
It was a stormy morning at Wee Friends and the talk of the breakfast table was all about thunder and lighting! We looked at some books about storms at the round table finding several interesting pictures of lighting. We decided to experiment with a special painting technique that would result in creating lightning effects with paint.. To do this, we added small drops of food coloring to the top of water color paper. Next we misted the painting from the bottom up using a spray bottle while our paper was in an upright position. As we did this, the colors bloomed, across the paper very suddenly giving the effect of lightning. Everyone wanted to do this! Many also stayed to watch all of the other paintings being created by classmates since the effect was so interesting to watch happen. A group stood around the drying table afterward discussing what they liked about all the paintings laid out, and pointing out their own paintings to friends. It was an exciting project!
Breakfast– Whole grain cheerios with fresh pineapple.
Lunch– Brown rice with shredded chicken, fresh cantaloupe/pears, and fresh green beans/carrots/cucumber.
PM snack– Trail mix mixture: raisins, peanuts, granola, and sunflower seeds.
Wee Sprout– Fresh green beans/carrots/cucumber.
