Good Afternoon!
The traffic light symbol was the focus for today’s PREK1 sign in activity. Children observed two different images and chose the correct representation for a traffic light! We talked about what the colors red, yellow, and green represent when we see them on a traffic light.
Science: K.3.2 Investigate that things move in different ways, such as fast, slow, etc.
We read, ‘The Great Pig Escape’ in PREK1 group today. It was a comical fiction story where a group of pigs escaped their owners after finding out they were being sent to the market. They escaped on a bus and travelled down to Florida! The book must’ve struck a cord because several friends journaled about the characters and main events of the story! We love when children are able to take an experience or book and transfer their new understanding and knowledge into words and drawings!
Outside we explored natural objects through water play. There have been a lot of kids interested in all of the new leaves and plants growing in the yard. Since many of the plants need to be looked at rather than picked, we created play around natural materials that the kids could explore. This way, kids could still have the opportunity to gain whatever learning experiences they had been seeking. Friends made soups for each other, animal homes, stick spoons or bridges, stone islands and hideouts for their animals to “camouflage” so as to stay safe from predators! What a great vocabulary for 3-4 year old imaginative play!
We hope you enjoy a few more pictures from our day!
PREK2: During group today we read “The Tiny Seed”. We have been thinking about seeds and how they grow as we observe our class bean growing project. After the story, we came up to the board to look at a picture of a plant. We were asked to put our name on a specific part of the plant, the stem, leaves or roots.
Breakfast– Puffins cereal with fresh honeydew melon.
Lunch– Peanut butter on whole wheat bread, fresh strawberries/cantaloupe, and fresh pepper/cucumber.
PM snack– Whole wheat bagel with cream cheese and sliced strawberries.
Wee Sprout– Fresh pepper/cucumber.
Have a wonderful night!
