Good Afternoon!

This morning we explored creative ways we could use a variety of wooden shapes and animals. Ideas ranged greatly, as they usually do with open ended activities, allowing children to tap into their own creative problem solving and imagination. We had a “light house with lights all around the top”. We had a multiroom house with bowls of food for all the wolf families that lived there”. We had a “submarine”, a “boat” and a“monster truck arena” with with the large round pieces serving as “monster truck wheels”. Kids often take real world experiences, or ideas they are interested in and apply these things in open ended play. This is a way of exploring, questioning, thinking and working things out. This also contributes to the variation in ideas since there are a wide range of different experiences kids bring to the classroom.
