Good Afternoon!

We took our weekly trip to the farm today! It was jam packed with chores that we were able to help Farmer Charlotte with. Before starting our chores, we picked fresh raspberries from the raspberry patch—yum!

Our first chore was digging for and finding worms in the compost pile. We fed the worms to salamanders before we left to come back to Wee Friends. All four of our friends were extremely helpful in their own ways—a few did the digging of the worms while others had a great eye for finding the worms in the dirt.

Once we were done finding enough worms, we helped drag and carry cornstalks down to the barn to feed to the horses. We took the cornstalks and fed them through the gate so that the horses could eat them.

Finally, the mice needed to be fed! We all took turns feeding the mice and had the opportunity to hold and pet the mice. A few of the mice are expecting! We’re excited to see if they’ll have their babies by next week!

We had such a fun and productive trip. Farmer Charlotte was thankful for all of our help because as we saw, it takes so many hands and so much help to run a farm!

Interesting fact: we were able to observe the skeletal remains of a possum in the garden!
