Good Afternoon!
We came back around to the topic of singular and plural nouns. Children in PREK1 group read a sentence where they could choose between a singular noun and a plural noun. We talked specifically about the word foot and feet and which one is singular or plural.
K.W.6.1a: Nouns/Pronouns—Writing sentences that include singular and/or plural nouns.
Today, we continued exploring pumpkins. We found two large pumpkins in our classroom when we came in this morning. Some friends thought they would like to see how big the pumpkins were so they got out some measuring tapes to take measurements. They measured the pumpkins from top top bottom and from side to side. Some friends got to try a new way of measuring. We found that spherical objects could be measured around the middle and this measurement was called the circumference. Later, we all enjoyed pounding golf tees into the pumpkins with wooden mallets. Several imaginative play scenarios popped up as the kids were working, involving building or construction.
At the round table this morning we explored sand and loose parts. We found we could make a range of three dimensional objects we packed sand into different shaped containers.
