Good Afternoon!
We continued to discuss community helpers today in our PREK1 group. Group members came up to the board where they found their name and chose a card that had a community helper written on it. They came up with one tool that their community helper needs to do their job!
Social Studies: K.2.1 Give examples of people who are community helpers (inside the classroom and outside the classroom) and describe how they help us.
Today, we finally got to create our long awaited volcanic eruption! Everyone was so excited to see what would happen. We talked about each ingredient that would go into the volcano and how those things would create a chemical reaction when they were combined. We added soap, water and baking soda which filled the volcano. When we added the vinegar, we got the volcano to erupt with a pulse of foam which cascaded down the sides like a real volcano! We got to try adding more baking soda so we could watch the change in the reaction. It was exciting to see! We even got to talk about how the foam covered the ground like real lava, which is how new rock is formed when it cools.
Please enjoy a few more pictures from our day!
