Good Afternoon!

We worked together to fill in the missing spaces on our chart that separated lowercase letters and uppercase letters. Each PREK1 group member came up to the board where they found their name card and identified the letter on the back. If their letter was an uppercase letter, they searched for the lowercase match.

Later on in PREK1 group, we read a book from the third text genre: fairytale! We read, ‘Dear Cinderella’ which is a book where Cinderella and Snow White write letters back and forth to each other. We discussed the characters that are likely in fairytales.

K.DA.1: Identify, sort, and classify objects by size, number, and other attributes. Identify objects that do not belong to a particular group and explain the reasoning used.

K.RL.3.1: Recognize familiar narrative text genres (e.g. fiction, nonfiction, fairytales, poems).

A puppet project sprung up in the art center this morning.  Several kids became interested in making them, so we added a variety of materials kids could use to support their project.  There were many creative and unique takes on on how to make the puppets look.  Kids enjoyed putting on a puppet show afterward.  Some kids loved the role of the “announcer” while other kids set up props.  Some kids chose to stay at the art center instead, enjoying the process of making the puppets more than playing with them.  Other kids made a puppet as quickly as possible, so they could get to playing with it.  We try to leave as much space as possible within projects for kids to take what is most fitting for their individual personalities and developmental needs.  We find they learn best this way!

Our kids love our apple oat muffin recipe, so several friends helped to make them to go with lunch today.  Everyone was excited to eat them!

PREK2: During group we read “B is for Builder”.  After the story we came up to the board to find our name.  Next we identified the first letter in our name and circled it.
