Good afternoon!
This morning a friends shared that they had an idea for a project. The idea was to make a model of our classroom. We talked about what materials we could use to make this idea into a reality. We found some cardboard, paper towel rolls and matboard scraps. We brain stormed and problem solved with some of our interested kids until we had a plan. A teacher used the big scissors to cut the cardboard shapes out shapes the kids asked to start building with, but otherwise they worked as an independent small group. Friends demonstrated some amazing teamwork and collaboration as they made models of our classroom round table, art table, counter, sink, refrigerator, cabinets, island, chairs and even the rice cooker! The project went on all morning and one friend shared that they would be working on it for “another day and then another day after that”:) During this child lead building project, kids were also building their executive planning skills, creative problem solving skills, social emotional development, fine motor development, plus their ability to reason and learn through trial and error,
We hope you enjoy a few more pictures from our day!
