Good Afternoon!

For the last two days, James has been interested in nonfiction stories in the science area. Yesterday, we looked at a dinosaur book and today called for firetrucks! His interest drew in a few friends and they got nonfiction books of their own. If a picture peaked James’ interest, he would ask for me to read the description.

A sensory activity was made available for children before we headed outside. Miss Kim made goop with a few of our older boys. They worked their hands through it, describing how it felt and how it changed consistency depending on how they moved it around.

Considering that it’s August 9th, we were so unbelievably thankful for the weather today! It called for all toys on deck: balls with the basketball net, bikes, and babies!

Daniel and James worked together to make a truck city. They took wooden boards and made roads that were high up by placing them on green buckets.

IMG_4016IMG_4019

Several friends worked on their aim as they practiced making baskets. Children stood at different angels and various distances from the hoop. A few of the older boys even created two teams to go against each other.

Happy Monday!

We had the best Monday! Our hands were busy this morning at the sensory bin and woodworking bench. At the circle table, various materials were explored such as math bins and Legos. All morning, friends did a great job at finding an activity that peaked their interest.

As you can see from the photos taken outside, we have a full and happy outdoor experience! A ton of friends worked on shooting baskets into the hoop. Once they got the hang of it, they kept stepping back, making their shot more challenging!

Several friends were busy building with Magna-Tiles.  They built stacks and Emma made a line with her Magna-Tiles to walk across.

IMG_0208IMG_0207IMG_0209

We had a busy morning, engaging with the Object Permanence boxes.  Several friends watched as their ball/coin would disappear as they put it in the hole or slot and then reappear when they opened the drawer or saw it in the tray.

IMG_0225IMG_0224IMG_0217

We then headed outside to engage in activities with our friends and older siblings.

Happy Friday!

Our hands were busy this morning with fine motor manipulatives and puzzles! Imogen has tackled the caterpillar foam puzzle this week and has been able to complete it without help while Adrian worked on stringing together chains which is a great fine motor exercise that incorporates colors.

IMG_3772IMG_3788

We went into the garden to take a look at our tomato inventory and children were quick to ask for a morning snack. Most children had 3-4 tomatoes. They are super big and very juicy! Our tomato crop this summer is quite impressive!

Good Afternoon!

The morning after breakfast, many of us used our gross motor muscles and ran around the front circle of the classroom.

IMG_0085IMG_0087IMG_0088IMG_0089

We then sat down with the train cars.  So Miss Bekah went to the basement and brought up the basket of wooden train tracks.  We worked together building the tracks on both the block area carpet and habi-trail carpet since it was so popular with all of us, we needed more space. We also explored the bridge and conductor pieces that came with our train track set.  They have been added to our block area for us to continue using in our play with trains.

Good Afternoon!

Adrian and Millie were two of the children who explored the peg activity at the circle table this morning! At first, Adrian matched the pegs to the peg board that he had. Once he did this a couple of times, he worked on stacking the pegs to see how high he could get them.

IMG_3676IMG_3685IMG_3692

A group of older boys worked on digging a huge hole under the log house. As they dug the hole, they placed the dirt and pebbles into various buckets, trying to fill them up equal amounts.

IMG_3731IMG_3742

The shade offered some relief from the hot sun which we enjoyed. On mornings like this, we are thankful for the big tree at the bottom of the yard!

IMG_3733IMG_3741

Lunch– Brown rice with butter and shredded pork, fresh watermelon, and fresh cucumber/carrots.

Good Afternoon!

A few friends began their morning exploring the Peek-a blocks and rolling the ball through the STEM ball maze.

IMG_0019IMG_0018

We then engaged looking at books independently before asking Miss Bekah to read to us.

IMG_0029IMG_0028IMG_0034

Paige interacted with Eliza while she was playing.  When Paige would talk to Eliza, she would make cooing sounds back to her.

IMG_0024IMG_0033IMG_0037

All of us then went into the kitchen to work on puzzles.  We worked on our matching and problem-solving skills while turning our pieces to make them fit in their place in the puzzle board until it was complete and we were ready for a different one.

IMG_0045IMG_0041IMG_0039IMG_0050IMG_0048IMG_0038

We then headed outside before it got too hot and engaged in some water play at the table with the animals.

Good Afternoon!

This morning we began our day listening to music.  A song that we listened to was called,  One Little Finger.  In this song, we had to listen and follow along with the directions by pointing our finger up and then down and placing it on the body part that was told to us.  We enjoyed acting out and following the directions of the song.

IMG_9903IMG_9905IMG_9904

We then headed into the kitchen to paint.  We didn’t paint with our hands this time, but our feet.  Miss Bekah and Miss Tina painted our feet the color we chose;  green, purple or red.  Some of us shared that it tickled the bottom of our feet when they were painted. We then enjoyed walking back and forth on our paper with the different colors and seeing our feet prints on it.

IMG_9917IMG_9921IMG_9927IMG_9935IMG_9961IMG_9975IMG_9948IMG_9950

Eliza enjoyed playing with the textured balls while we were painting.

IMG_9979IMG_9978

We then headed outside to play and see our brother, sister and friends from the pre-school classroom.
