Good Afternoon!

In K/PREK1 group, we played Community Helper Bingo but added our own little twist. When children placed a chip on the helper square, I called on one friend to share a tool that the community helper uses to do their job!

IMG_7271IMG_7266IMG_7269

Last week, our older group of children found a feather while on a walk! Today, we used the feather to write with using ink. Everyone who came to the table to write with the feather ended up writing their name. It was a unique experience watching children write with a brand new writing instrument!

We headed outside and spent some time outside before lunch. We were very thankful for the decent weather.

Our morning got even better when Miss Tami bought us in new balls for our outdoor environment! There were several balls for children to use plus a new cart to store them in! Up until lunch, children used the balls in various ways and were thrilled to share them with their peers.

Good afternoon.

Friends engaged in the musical instruments today and made beautiful sounding music. We love to hear the different sounds each instrument makes.

While enjoying all the beautiful sounds coming from the instruments an older friend was getting her body in motion dancing, jumping and stretching her body in different positions.

Good Afternoon!

Evie and Mack drew lines from the job title to the tools that those workers need. Throughout the week, we’ll be talking about different jobs that people can have!

IMG_7050IMG_7047

After reading, ‘Albert The Fix It Man’ in K/PREK1 group, we took all of the jobs that we wrote in our web yesterday and transferred them to a piece of paper. Children took turns sharing one tools that each job needed to do their job correctly.

Social Studies: K.4.2 Identify and describe different kinds of jobs that people do and the tools they use.

A small group of friends worked together to build a structure with the notch blocks in habitrail. We have several ‘blueprints’ for different structures that can be built. They chose one blueprint and started constructing the building. There were a couple of times where the structure wasn’t coming together the way they would like so they had to regroup and talk about their plans. It was a great cooperative learning experience.

Good Afternoon.

Rain???, what rain?!?!?! We didn’t let a little thing like rain damper our spirits. We had a very full engaged day!

An older friend asked for the swing! We each took turns and enjoyed our individual time swinging.

IMG_5614IMG_5602

IMG_5592

Then, it was hide and seek play! Friends started this game yesterday and it extended into our play again today. Smile One friend would cover their eyes and count to ten, while others went to find a good place to hide! Boy oh boy…. did we find some great spots.

IMG_5605IMG_5604

IMG_5607IMG_5606

Then we engaged in the sensory table. Scooping, pouring and yes, even dumping the mixture onto the floor. We work with all of our little ones to try and keep as much of the seed mixture in the table as we can. But accidents happen, and that is A-OK!

IMG_5609IMG_5610

Then we got out our ABC floor puzzle and did some different activities within that puzzle.

We first had friends find the letters that were scattered around one section of the classroom, we then after putting it all together went through each letter and found an animal or something else that began with that letter. We then found the first letter of our names and stood on that letter as well as sang the ABC song.

Good Afternoon!

We read, ‘I Want To Be A Doctor’ in K/PREK1 group. This week, we’ll be talking about the various jobs that people can do and the tools they need to do those jobs.

Once our story was done, we made a web filled with jobs. Each child got to share one job that they wanted on the web and then we went into an open conversation about jobs that ended up completely filling our web!

Tomorrow, we’ll take the jobs that we came up with and take our conversation one step further by talking about the tools needed to do those jobs.

Social Studies: K.4.2 Identify and describe different kinds of jobs that people do and the tools they use.

IMG_5381

In PREK2 group, Miss Kim read, ‘Rosie Revere Engineer’. They talked about what an engineer does and the tools they need to do their job!

IMG_6995

Friends had the opportunity to come to the art table and start a special still life painting of a flower bouquet! There was a three step process that children had to go through: drawing with a pencil, tracing with a sharpie marker, and finally painting with water colors.

Today we had fun reading stories to one another and painting a special project!

One of our older friends enjoyed being a book leader. She gathered books off of the book shelf, sat in the rocking chair and called over other friends and handed them their book to red.

Good Afternoon!

After reading, ‘Hedgie’s Surprise!’ by Jan Brett in K/PREK1 group, we filled in three different webs. We went through the whole group and each friend got to choose which web they wanted to add to: animals that fly, animals that hop, or animals that run. When they chose a web, they said aloud an animal that fit into that web.

We talked about how animals move in different ways which lead into the completion of our webs!

Science: K.3.2 Investigate that things move in different ways, such as fast, slow, etc.

IMG_5283

Each friend in PREK2 group got to choose a car that they used to test out the wooden board that was used as a ramp. They pushed the car down the ramp and measured how long it went.

Miss Kim added friction to the board by placing crinkle packaging paper on the board to see if that would affect the length that the cars travelled.

IMG_6822IMG_6820IMG_6809

Materials were placed in the habitrail area for exploration earlier this morning. Children have been interested in ramps and tracks so they used the wooden tubes to create their own track. Once the track was complete, they put a marble down the start of the track to see if it would end up in the wicker basket!

This child driven activity worked on problem solving, cooperation, and trial and error.

Good Afternoon.

Friends wanted to to engage on the stepping circles this morning. These circles are a great sensory activity as well as a gross motor activity. Our feet can feel the different textures on the circles. Some are smooth and some are bumpy.

Our large boxes and tunnel play had everyone excited. We LOVE climbing in and out of both activities. . WE really get our bodies moving.
