Good Afternoon and Happy December!

Today we celebrated a friend’s second birthday! Our stackable numbered birthday cake was a big hit with our birthday girl and all of her friends.

We enjoyed working on stacking the different sized cake circles in their smallest to largest order and then we talked about how some of us were the number two on the cake circles and that very soon we would have two one year old’s in the classroom as well.

Good morning!

For K/PREK1 group, we read, ‘Ribbon Rescue’ written by Robert Munsch. We looked at the map of the world, identifying the things we saw such as rivers, oceans, countries, and cities. Things we didn’t see were trees, houses, and animals (just a few of the examples friends shared!).

Social Studies: K.3.2 Identify maps and globes as ways of representing Earth and understand differences between a map/globe.

In PREK2, children used a specific map of our indoor environment! Each child picked an object from the pile and had to identify which space in the environment that the item went in. For example, a friend picked a picture of a hammer and nails. They put the picture in the science area which is where our tools go!

Friends patiently waited for a turn at the art table to make their own snowflake! Children used paint, brushes, popsicle sticks, glitter, glue, ribbon, and confetti. Once they made their snowflake, they added whatever materials they wanted to it.

Good Afternoon. What a beautiful sunny day. Smile

Today we did a painting activity with a really neat kind of “brush.” Miss Bekah tied a pipe cleaner together and friends painted with that as their brush. What a great idea!!!

Happy Monday!

**Wee Friends will be closed starting Monday, December 20 through Friday, December 31st.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

In K/PREK1, we read, ‘Thank You Earth’ which is a book from our MACK collection. It talks about everyone that our Earth provides us: storms, flowers, mountains to name just a few.

Afterwards, we talked about maps and globes and how they are different. When we identified them as being 2-D and 3-D, Mack asked, “What would be 1 dimensional then?”—we’re always thinking and asking questions!

We used the map of the United States to identify where Indiana is located. Friends were quick to point out states that they have heard of before.

Social Studies: K.3.2 Identify maps and globes as ways of representing Earth and understand differences between a map/globe.

In PREK2, children looked at two maps: one of the world and one of the North Pole! Miss Kim showed them where the North Pole is on the world map.

Good Afternoon. JAMMIE DAY TOMORROW!!!!!

One of our friends has just started wearing glasses, so her mommy brought in a couple books for us to read. Douglas, You Need Glasses and Fancy Nancy Spectacular Spectacles were a big hit with a couple of our friends.

We always work with our friends on the fact that we all look different and do things differently, but we are all wonderful inside and out. Smile

We then headed into the kitchen for an awesome science activity/experiment.We have been listening to a song called, The Freeze Dance… Lava..

Miss Bekah used vinegar and baking soda to create our own kind of lava. Friends LOVED the way it fizzed and how it bubbled up. Miss Marty asked friends if the smell was a stinky smell or a good smell to them. All of our friends said, “stinky!!”

PB230662PB230671PB230667PB230668

After that was all cleaned up, we extended our kitchen play by playing in a bins of water. We washed plates. cups and the food from the housekeeping center.

What a fun filled day!
