Good Afternoon!

Reminder:  Wee Friends will be closed on Friday, April 2 for observance of Good Friday.

We had a big box delivered to Wee Friends.  We were able to open the big box and see what was inside.  We took out all the contents before finding the bubble wrap.  We enjoyed squeezing it with our hands and stomping on it with our feet to POP the big bubble. After popping the bubble wrap, we crawled through the box before it became flat and we turned it into a dance floor.

Good Afternoon!

This morning we engaged in one of our favorite sensory experiences….Green Playdough!  Friends used a hammer or rolling pin to make their playdough flatter so they could use their cookie cutters to make cars, dinosaurs, motorcycles and stars.  We had a blast.

Good Afternoon!

In K group, friends came up with verbs that we put on a web yesterday. We used those words today to create sentences! I went first and used my verb which was ‘climb’. I said, “I climb on the log house outside.”

Each friend got the chance to use their verb from yesterday in a sentence. After a few friends said their sentence, they said, “Hey! I created a nonfiction sentence because that really happened today!”

K.W.6.1b: Verbs–Writing sentences that include verbs.

During K sign in, children worked with three word families. Each word family had three words in it. The first letter of each word was missing so using their knowledge of letter sounds, they placed the correct letter into the blank spaces.

One word family was ten, pen, and hen. The t, p, and h were missing so children looked at the respective pictures and identified which letter was missing.

K.RF.3.5: Add, delete, or substitute sounds to change words.

PREK2 explored the same activity as K group. It challenged them and they were able to work together to place a few letters that completed the words.

Children were excited to continue working on their plant pots that they painted earlier in the week. Today, Miss Annastecia filled them with potting soil and gave each friend one snap pea seed!

They used a glass of water and a dropper to water their newly planted seed.

Good Afternoon.

Friends enjoyed the “new to them” train set brought up from storage today! These fun trains are large wooden trains that can hook together and have holed blocks placed on top of the train. They’re brightly colored and so much fun to engage with. Our baby friend Paige even enjoyed them. Smile

We then had more fun in the “new to us” sensory bin. This sensory bin replaced our corn and black beans with colorful rice. We still get all the scooping, pouring and sensory feel fun like before, just with something a little different. Smile

Last but not least, we said goodbye to our winter hats in the dramatic play center and said hello to our summer fun hats. What a GREAT day!!

Good morning!

After reading, ‘Good People Everywhere’ in K group,  we created a web with verbs. I started by sharing my example which was ‘climb’. We talked about action verbs and each friend got the opportunity to add one action verb to the web. The action verbs we came up with were climb, dance, move, skip, leap, dig, and run! Tomorrow for group, the next step we’ll take it taking these verbs on our web and using them in sentences.

K.W.6.1b: Verbs–Writing sentences that include verbs.

Our kindergarten friends used clothespins to pin the number that was missing from ten different number lines. For example, on one laminated sheet, the numbers 9, 10, and _____ were shown. Underneath, children had to chose from 8, 11, or 12 and pin the number that fits into the blank space.

K.NS.3: Find the number that is one more than or one less than any whole number up to 20.

DSCN0077DSCN0083DSCN0088

In PREK2, children worked together to find the missing number in five different equations where the total was 10. Miss Kim drew pictures to show the number that fit into the missing spot.

DSCN0192DSCN0195

Miss Annastecia brought in some seeds from home and this morning, children had the chance to decorate their pot that they’ll use for the seeds. Friends spent quite a bit of time painting their pot using a variety of paint colors.

Lunch– Peanut butter on whole wheat bread, fresh pears, cheddar cheese, and fresh carrots/cucumber.

Happy Monday!

Reminder: Wee Friends is closed this upcoming Friday, March 26th.

During K group, we read ‘All the World’ which is a story from our MACK collection. Friends recognized that the author used rhyming words on each page. Once the story was finished, we moved our eyes to the white board where six different numbers were written.

Together as a group, we identified each number. There were twelve pieces of paper that had numbers of them. I held up one number at time and working together, we figured out where that number went. For example, I held up the number ‘9’. Children looked at the various numbers and came to the conclusion that the ‘9’ should go before the 10 on the first problem.

K.NS.3: Find the number that is one more than or one less than any whole number up to 20.

DSCN0058

For kindergarten sign in, children used colored counters to find the missing number in five equations. Each equation had a total sum of 10 and they had to figure out the missing number. For example, one equation read ‘6 + _____ = 10’. A few friends decided to use their fingers too because since we have ten total fingers, it’s easy to do addition and subtraction using the number 10!

K.CA.4: Find the number that makes 10 when added to the given number for any number from 1 to 9 (e.g., by using objects or drawings), and record the answer with a drawing or an equation.

DSCN9971DSCN9968

Miss Kim created a special story for her PREK2 friends. There were various blank spaces that they had to fill in. Each friend got the chance to come up with a word or phrase that would make sense within the story.

DSCN0059

The rest of our day was full of various activities, both inside and outside! We were lucky enough to spend a ton of time outside this morning and later on in the afternoon. It was a great kick off to our week!
