**Just a reminder: we need every child’s updated shot records by Monday, January 8th. If it’s easier, you can mail them to Wee Friends. Thank you!

Five years. That’s how long Lulu has been a Wee Friender. It is truly what we envision when we think of a child going through the complete Wee Friend experience. Through these last five years, relationships have been formed and milestones have been crossed. We are so going to miss your leadership, heart, and love of life and learning. We’re ecstatic that you get to add another travel chapter to your life before you start big kid school. These last five years watching you grow into the person that you are have been nothing short of wonderful. Thank you for letting us be apart of your journey.

We spent the last day before vacation building trains, exploring with a sensory experience, and completing the last PJ runway show of 2017.

We are so thankful for the relationships that we continue to build each day with these children and their families. There is nothing better than working together with parents as a team to make sure that these Wee kids are happy, healthy, and challenged each and every day.

Good Afternoon!

**We’re having PJ day tomorrow in case you haven’t heard!

Our pre-k/k group has been working on a project for the last week. Each member and soon to be member got the opportunity to pick their favorite journal to add to our new pre-k/k calendar! After every member picked their favorite journal, we created the calendar and waited patiently for it to be delivered.

This morning, we finally got to see the finished product! We were all proud of our journal and being able to see it in our finished product made us BEAM. Choosing to do this instead of buying a normal calendar will allow for more conversation topics during group time as well as pointing out that it’s the effort that goes into the project that matters.

The art table was busy with children drawing and putting words to their drawings. One of our kindergarteners chose to write his own recipe down for pumpkin muffins (that we made yesterday). Not only did he write out he words using kid spelling but he drew the item next to it as well.

We hope you are having a great Thursday!

Breakfast– Kix and PPC blueberries.

Lunch– Brown rice with shredded beef, PPC banana/pears, and PPC green beans/cucumber.

PM snack– Cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter and PPC clementines.

Wee Sprouts– Fresh carrots.

Have a terrific night.

Happy Wednesday!

This morning we started out swinging on the swing.  Sophia chose to wear a dress up dress while she was swinging, while Mack chose to have the baby dolls swing with him.

Good Afternoon!

**In order to be in compliance with state laws, we need UPDATED SHOT RECORDS for every child. We need updated shot records by Monday, January 8th. Thank you!

**Before our Christmas break starts, please take a minute to clear out your child’s cubbie as well as their art cubbie. We’ll have plastic bags available in a spare cubbie. Thank you!

In our pre-k/k group, we read ‘Bear Stays Up For Christmas’. Throughout the story, children noted rhyming words that they noticed which lead into our activity after we finished the story.

I had five words up on the board and it was our job to match the rhyming words. When we came up on the word ‘down’, Lulu immediately shouted, “frown”. I asked what letter that word would start with and a few friends said, “F!”. Together, we found a word that started with an ‘F’ and matched it to ‘down’.

Our morning was full of various activities going on and children engaging either alone or with peers.

The art area was full of children making cards for people in their lives; mostly mom and dad! Grady interacted with the welcome activity; matching dominos. Chloe challenged herself by completing various 24 piece puzzles. We’re gearing up for Christmas break and making the most of our last days at Wee Friends in 2017!

Miss Kim opened up the island for a baking opportunity. Children helped Miss Kim bake pumpkin muffins that we had later on for afternoon snack. Each friend got the chance to measure or pour something into the mixture.

Good Afternoon!

We finished up our FAB schedule for the fall! FAB’s will start back up after Christmas break. This week, our pre-k/k group will be extending a few FAB’s for topics where they had full comprehension.

Today in group, we read ‘The Hat’ by Jan Brett. Afterwards, we talked about the various animals and characters that we read about in the book. We counted the syllables in each name, quickly realizing that all of the names either had one or two syllables. Children started counting the syllables in each others names which lead to children quickly realizing that all of the ‘boy’ names had two syllables (MAXWELL, RILEY, AND GRADY) while the ‘girl’ names are all three syllable words (LUCINDA, LUISA, AND MADELINE).

Wooden blocks were used for a variety of building activities. Max, Lucy, and Anna used the big, plastic blocks and wooden blocks to build a bunk bed while Maddie and Lulu used them as surf boards. They both worked on their balance, trying to stay on their surf boards for as long as possible.
