Happy Friday!
We had a terrific graduation day! Our graduating friends proudly hung the banner that they had made yesterday.
Our five graduating children lined up to accept their Wee Friends certificate along with a photo album of photos that were taken over their years here.
It has been an amazing journey with these five children. Years upon years of memories not only with them but with their family as well.
The relationships that we are able to build with the family as a whole makes it so much more rewarding on a day like today. Most of these kids have been here for four or five years which allows for the relationships between the child and parents to grow exponentially.
The support and appreciation we receive from families on a day to day basis is absolutely amazing. Not only do we love the daily interactions with each and every child but the conversations that we’re able to have with parents makes it complete.
Elliott and Elizabeth ended their Wee Friends career today. From starting at one and two years old respectively, to now going off to 1st grade together, they have literally grown beyond recognition. They have formed a fabulous friendship that they are now going to take onto Good Shepherd! We will miss you both SO much!
Breakfast– Cinnamon oatmeal pancakes and grapes.
Lunch– Melted cheese tortillas, grapes, and tomatoes.
PM snack– Cheddar block cheese and pears.
Wee Sprout– Cucumbers.
Have a terrific weekend.

One of the best parts about time outside is getting to interact with our older friends. Our Wee Wees always light up when they see them come out the door to join us in the backyard! Friends from both groups are excited to say hi to each other everyday.
Breakfast was Whole Grain Cheerios and bananas. Wee sprout was peas and carrots. Lunch consisted of hummus sandwiches, blueberries, cantaloupe, carrots, and peas. Afternoon snack was wheat crackers with cream cheese.

David found cut grass covering the platform outside. He grabbed big handfuls of it and threw the grass up into the air like confetti! His laughter caught his friends attention and they rushed to join him. The air was soon full of giggles and flying grass!
After snack, Ruby and Sophia went right to the gross motor area and found the soft teeter totters. Ruby showed off her great balancing skills by trying different ways to stand on it. Sophia loves teeter totters and always has a big smile on her face when playing on one, inside or outside.
Breakfast was whole grain English muffins with cream cheese and bananas. Wee sprout was mixed veggies. Lunch consisted of farm fresh eggs with whole wheat flat bread, plums, and mixed veggies. Afternoon snack was wheat crackers with hummus.

Good Afternoon!
We were itching for something to do with our hands this morning so play dough was made available at the art table. Clara said, “Wow. This play dough is stretchy!”
Different instruments were used to manipulate the play dough including rolling pins, plastic knives, and a variety of cookie cutters.
Right as we headed outside, a group of our older friends were fascinated with the butterfly bush. Over the last couple of days, we’ve seen a mixture of different butterflies throughout the backyard.
Today, Clara had luck! She was able to catch a butterfly. She mentioned, “I let it go though. It kind of wiggled out of my hand.” Thankfully, everyone was able to see it’s pretty design!
Many children headed to the garden where a little weeding took place. There weren’t any veggies that were ready to pick yet but we cleaned up the garden just a tad.
In large group, we read a story titled, “Blueberries For Sal.” I had never read it before and as I started to hold up the book, many friends said, “I’ve read that book before!”
We talked about many different topics including why the pages were just black and white with no color, what year the story was written (1948!), and if any of our friends had picked blueberries before! We loved the anticipation in this story and predicting what was going to happen next.
Breakfast– Whole grain oatmeal with raspberries.
Lunch– Scrambled eggs with cheese roll-ups using flat bread, cucumbers/peppers, and grapes.
PM snack– Popcorn and plums.
Wee Sprouts– Green beans and peppers.
Have a great evening!

Since it was so hot outside, we stayed inside this afternoon and opened up a couple sensory tubs in the kitchen!
One tub was full of a birdseed mixture and the other had moon sand. Our friends had the freedom to go back and forth between the two.
There were plenty of bowls and spoons available to play with since our friends love to scoop and pour. Some of our friends also used them to sift the sensory material back and forth, used the spoons to pat down the moon sand, and also to stir what they had put in their bowl.
Breakfast was Whole Grain Cheerios and bananas. Wee sprout was corn. Lunch consisted of whole wheat tortilla with hummus, apples, and corn. Afternoon snack was toasted whole wheat bagels with cream cheese.

Over the next month, we’re going to say goodbye to many friends who have called Wee Friends their home over the last several years. Today, we start that transitional journey of watching as six of our friends head off to Kindergarten or 1st grade.
Eren started at Wee Wee Friends when he was just over a year old. Over the last four years, we have watched him grow into a loving, energetic, caring soul. We hope you have a FABULOUS kindergarten year, Eren. We will miss you as well as your family!
“We didn’t realize we were making memories; we just knew we were having fun.”
“A child’s life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark.”
It’s an amazing thing to watch day in and day out as these children continue to nourish their relationships that they have with one another. We are just so thankful as educators that we can be a part of their journeys.
Breakfast– Kix and blackberries.
Lunch– Hummus on tortillas, strawberries/grapes, and cucumbers.
PM snack– Whole wheat bagel with cream cheese.
Wee Sprout– Cucumbers from our garden.
Have a terrific evening.

Happy Monday and first day of August!
There were different opportunities today to use our imagination. Elliott started building his own version of a domino effect structure by using wood blocks!
Miss Melinda read a story that talked about different colors. First, the group read about the color ‘red’. They were instructed to go look around the environment and look for a ‘red’ item! They did this with every color that they read about.
As we headed outside, wearing a hat seemed to be the theme of the morning! It was an absolutely gorgeous morning to enjoy the outside elements that are around us.
In large group, we read one of my all-time favorite short chapter books, ‘Freckle Juice’. We read the first half of the story and will finish the rest tomorrow. We used the chalk board to cast our estimated guesses as to whether the freckle juice will actually work! It was definitely a split decision so we’re all anxious to find out the answer tomorrow!
Breakfast– Bagels with cream cheese and apples.
Lunch– Whole wheat noodles with chicken and butter, broccoli, and oranges
PM snack– Whole milk yogurt with PPC blackberries.
Wee Sprout– Broccoli.
Have a great evening!
