We take expressing ourselves very seriously at Wee Friends. So when the screaming begins, we pause and ask ourselves: “To scream or not to scream?”. We know it feels good to let our bodies scream. High pitched soaring sound, straight from the depths of the Wee spirits. And yet, it is an alarming sound, too. It creates inner ear ouchies for friends and teachers. “How can it hurt your ear?” asked Aislinn to a hurt Melinda. Hmmmmm. We don’t have the answer on this one. We watch for safety, kind words and…..expressive emotion. Today it worked for a while. Then we encouraged a change in direction. And so it goes. Day by day.
Wee Sprouts: Carrots. Breakfast: Whole wheat bagels with cream cheese and apple slices. Lunch: Pasta with marinara, peas and pear slices. Snack: Yogurt and a fruit TBA after PPC delivery.
Happy Friday!
Today, we witnessed Rosemary take her first unassisted steps! She’s been walking with the help of tables and shelves but this time, it was all her! We love when the big milestones start to form and take place.
Music time was just what we needed this morning.
Another thing we needed was outside time. We got about five minutes until it started misting pretty hard so we had to come inside. We were not too happy with that decision so we all headed to the habitrail where we watched the rain and talked about it.
Anna is moving all over the place. Rolling here. Rolling there. Today, she was up on all fours!
Maya was quite into the camera this afternoon. After taking a picture and saying, “Cheese!”, she wanted to see what it looked like on the other side of the camera. She thought it was very funny
.
For breakfast, children had malt-o-meal/cheerios and banana. Lunch consisted of egg roll-ups, broccoli, and plums. PM snack was whole wheat bunny crackers and hummus.
Have a great weekend! We’ll leave ya with a smile..
The Birthday Trifecta.
(DEF: a run of three wins or grand events)
We spent the Wee morning celebrating three grand events: the births of Sophie, Hazel and Elizabeth. They are turning, or have turned five. We let the morning flow in and out of bday preparations, chalkboard explorations, books to read and write, games to create and puppies to emulate.
Happy Birthday dear Wee Friends! We love you and are so glad to grow with you.

Hello!
“Rain! Go away!” That’s what we said as we stood and looked out the window. It was a no go for outside time today.
However, we didn’t let this bring us down! Snuggle time. Stories. Pretend play.
We didn’t let the weather dull our sparkle
.
For breakfast, children had cheerios and banana. Lunch consisted of quinoa and brown rice with cheddar cheese, mixed vegetables, and pears. PM snack was thin rice cakes with hummus.

Instead of farming today, we used our rainy morning to:
and,
and,
and,
and,
and,
and,
There you have it! Just a quick snapshot of a Wee rainy morning here.

Good Afternoon!
While outside, we noticed that across the alley, a tree was getting chopped down! Friends stood over by the fence so they could get a glimpse of where all of the sounds were coming from. Lucy even tried to climb the fence to get closer
.
A few friends watched from afar. We talked about what they were doing with the tree. Friends heard loud noises which happened to be the trees getting put into a machine that cut them all up!
Nahla headed to the sandbox where she worked with her shovel and hands. Lucy and Maya enjoy the log house every morning.
For breakfast, children had toast with butter and raisins. Lunch consisted of hummus on tortillas, corn, and banana. PM snack was peas/carrots and cheese.
Have a great evening.
To the tune of “Wheels on the Bus”:
“What do you do when you’re feeling sad? Feeling sad, feeling sad.
What do you do when you’re feeling sad? Squish the Play-Do.”
And so we did.
To the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know It”:
“If you’re sad and you know it, squish the Play-Do!
If you’re sad and you know it, squish the Play-Do!
If you’re sad and you know it, squish the Play-Do and get it out…
If you’re sad and you know it, squish the Play-Do!”
So we squished, pounded, tossed, textured, squeezed, pinched and created with Play Do. AND we got the sadness out.
At every other turn, Jessica worked on letter/number recognition. She used the page numbers of a glossary to do so. As well as the letters and words of an interesting gerbil book.
When we heard a loud buzzing and motor sound outside, we ran out to see what it was. And we kept running. And listening to the tree trimmers.
Hope your day is happy….and you know it. –Laurie
