WF 2/14 Happy Love Day

025

Well, we think everyday should be a love day, but today is the day we REALLY talk it up. And we did just that. We talked about love, looked for loving moments and pointed them out when they were upon us. Heart Potato, puzzle love, V-day Bingo and Tic-Tic-Toe; The Best of Bread, Sonny and Cher and Tina Turner all turned our minds (and letters and words and voices and bodies) to love.

Hope you are all having a Loving Day. And stay healthy.

Hello!

**In the last week, a few of our friends have contracted a stomach bug. A main symptom has been vomiting/nausea. This has been going through BOTH houses (teachers included) unfortunately. We wish everyone a speedy and quick recovery!

To start off their morning, Lulu and Saskia filled the house with sounds of maracas. They each took turns with different maracas. We found that the maracas made different sounds.

The slide was of great fascination this morning. Nora and Lulu walked up the slide then slid down on their bellies. They repeated this multiple times while laughing and giggling with one another!

Friends got out the gross motor slide and stair combo. We all took turns going up the stairs and sliding down the slide!

Taters woke up from a nap and went straight for the gross motor area!

We love running to the window to watch friends leave <3.

Have a great night!

WF 2/13/14 Gut feelings

As many of you have heard, or experienced, we have a very potent stomach bug filtering through our classrooms.  Yesterday, Lisa had a gut feeling and prepared your children with a new Life Lesson:  How to Vomit.  Step by step she explained what was happening to their bodies, how it feels, and how to aim their vomit into best scenario receptacles: toilets, trash cans, plastic bags, etc.  It was good timing as we have 4 more kids out today with the bug and we hope the Life Lesson helped them through it!

Tomorrow is our Valentine’s Exchange.  PLEASE PUT VALENTINES (IN A BAG) ON THE KITCHEN ISLAND WHEN YOU ARRIVE. We will have children deliver Valentines after naptime.  All valentines will be sent home to be opened and enjoyed with you!

For breakfast we had English muffins and raisins.  Wee Sprouts were carrots.  Lunch was chicken salad on whole wheat, broccoli, and banana.  Snack will be cottage cheese and apple slices.

Enjoy the sunshine!

Tami

Eye-hand coordination. That’s what we see developing during the game Heart Potato. Also give/take and sharing freely. 037

After our happy competitions, we saluted the flag with a march and a sky gaze at imaginary fireworks.

033

We jumped to our personal musical anthems. We know EXACTLY what kind of music we like!

022

We mastered letter writing by choosing to write words that interest us.012

We focus on each friend and their voice and interests. Personal Wee journeys as we grow into the people we’re meant to be.

That’s about how I feel at the moment!

Tami’s husband Chaz here in my role as IT/Webmaster.

I just wanted to let you all know that we’re having some blog issues at the moment. You may be able to see the blog but we can’t seem to get the new ones to upload. I was already in the process of trying to move the blog to a new host and I guess I’ll be trying to finish that process tonight!

(It’s kind of like when you talk about replacing an appliance and it hears you and then quits entirely.)

Hopefully they will be back to posting tomorrow. If not, it’s all my fault!

Sorry for the issues!

Thanks,

Chaz

WF Daily Explorations, Let’s BBQ the Grinch 12/11/13

We were having blog problems uploading the pictures, so here’s just the text of today’s blog.  We’ll get all the pics to you as soon as we figure out why our program is being difficult.

Tomorrow, our dear Melinda is having knee surgery. She will be gone through the beginning of January. Should you want to touch base with her, she asked that you feel free to write her via email or snail mail @ [email protected] or 134 River Avenue, Mishawaka 46554.

We are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow (Thursday 12/12) at 4pm!

Our day began with a sticker project. We set out stickers and black card stock and encouraged friends to create ornaments.

Ellie is deep into a study of her favorite book, Beauty and the Beast. We set out to lift ideas off the page by offering Ellie and later, several of her friends, red and green paper and tape to create roses. After Ellie finished her rose, she set it under a glass bowl. She will watch it in days to come to see how, with her imagination,  it might change.

As friends settled into independent play, here are some of the thoughts we gathered, about their work at hand.

Max, Elliott and Finn: “Let’s BBQ the Grinch so we can eat him. It will be like hot dogs without the bun.”

Zoi: “I’m drinking  milk.”

Eve: “I’m feeding the baby this.”

Clara: “I’m feeding my baby milk. He’s sitting in the high chair.”

Aislinn: “Ga-ga baby! We’re playing house with daddy and mommy. They are saying go to bed.”

Owen: “Go to bed baby. Ring-ring-ring! You can get up baby!”

Marta: “I waited for Lisa. I picket out this book.”

Ellie: “I’m building a big tower so the bad wolf doesn’t get up there and eat the pig!”

Elizabeth: “I’m making a wall for the Big Bad Wolf to not get up to the surface.”

Marina: “ This is the Big Bad Wolf.”

Enjoy your day. It’s a good day for a BBQ.

Wee Sprouts: Cucumbers. Breakfast: Malt-O-Meal and bananas. Lunch: Homemade ham and bean soup, homemade wheat bread and butter and bananas. Snack: Apple slices and string cheese.
