Good Afternoon.

This morning we happily engaged in utilizing the textured stepping circles. We can talk about how they feel on on feet and we can also talk about their colors.

Yesterday we carved our classroom pumpkin.. Today, we glued our dried seeds onto a piece of colored construction paper. Some friends didn’t like the sticky feel of the glue on their fingers/hands. While other friends didn’t seem to mind all that much. However,it was an enjoyable experience for us all. Smile

Good Afternoon!

We want to say a BIG happy birthday to Imogen! She turned three years old today! We are so glad we were able to celebrate your birthday with you.

DSCN0941DSCN0938

In K/PREK1 group, we read, ‘Be Glad Your Nose Is On Your Face’ which is a collection of poetry! Each group member got to pick out one poem. Before we started reading, Mack asked, “Who wrote this?!”. We talked about the author and where one may find this book in the library. Evie said, “It’d be in the P section because the last name starts with P!”

Children scattered throughout the environment this morning, occupying the circle table, housekeeping area, and art table until we went outside.

Our special tent was brought up and friends were anxious to get a turn. It allows friends to have a quiet, one on one experience with another peer. Most children sat quietly in the tent, reading books with their friend!

The chilly weather this morning didn’t stop us from having fun! Thankfully the sun made an appearance which we always love.

Good Afternoon.

Today we started our day off with a dance party.

A two year old friend asked to listen to music and when it was put on for all to hear, everyone chimed right in and started dancing away. The way our little ones move their bodies to the music is so cute!

We cut open our class pumpkin today. Friends were all very eager to see what Miss Bekah was going to pull out and give us out of a pumpkin!?!?!

As we watched her cut it open and stick her hand down inside, we were all very happy to see what she pulled out and wanted to touch it. The babies even joined in the sensory fun. Everyone took a turn smelling the pumpkin as well. Some of us thought it smelled good, while others didn’t think the same.

We took out our canvases that we started yesterday. The nature materials were all dried and in place so we started painting! Some children chose to paint the open, white spaces while others chose to paint the nature items.

Good Afternoon!

Mack and Evie focused on sorting books by the author’s last name, just like librarians do! First, we talked about how books are sorted at the library and using that knowledge, they decided which book came first, middle, and last depending on the first letter of the authors last name.

K.1.19: Learn and apply knowledge of alphabetical order (first letter) when using a classroom or school library/media center. (2006 standard)

DSCN0735

In K/PREK1 group, we filled in five sentences with the correct noun based on the context clues in each sentence. For example, the first sentence read, ‘There are three red ________ on the table.’ Mack had to choose is the word should be crayon or crayons. Each group member was assigned two sentences and when they chose the word to fill in the blank, they came up to the black board to tape the word into place.  Once all of the sentences were complete, we went back and looked to see if we could find a pattern.

We noticed that all of the sentences that had a number word more than one had an ‘s’ on the end of the noun while the sentences that had ‘a’ before the noun didn’t need an ‘s’ because it meant ‘one’.

K.W.6.1a: Nouns/Pronouns- Writing sentences that include singular and/or plural nouns (e.g., dog/dogs, cat/cats).

In PREK2 group, children went fishing! They were asked to find a specific letter, mostly a letter  that they’re familiar with such as the first letter of their name.

DSCN0813DSCN0820

We started an art project for the reading area wall display! It’ll be a multi step project and today’s step was choosing nature materials to glue onto their individual canvas. We can’t wait to hang these up in our classroom!

It was quite a chilly day but we managed to get outside in the morning and afternoon!

Good Afternoon.

We had a fun filled and happy day! Look at these smiles and the sheer joy on our Wee Wee faces.

One of our older friends asked me for puzzles today. We worked on the more difficult puzzles together and the puzzle pieces were placed in their correct spots very nicely. My motto is… “Teamwork makes the Dream Work!”

When engaging in an activity that is a little more challenging for us, we are able to really put our cognitive skills to the test. It’s great to strengthen our minds with more difficult tasks.

PB021030PB021026

Our one year old’s also wanted to engage in puzzles. We have large wooden shaped puzzles with three to five pieces for our younger ones to help simulate their minds and their learning.

Good Afternoon and Happy November.

WEE FRIENDS WILL BE CLOSED THURSDAY AND FRIDAY NOVEMBER 25TH AND 26TH FOR THE THANKGIVING HOLIDAY.

Today we enjoyed talking to one another about the fun we had Trick or Treating and all the candy we received. Smile

We had fun engaging in a sensory activity at the table today. Playdoh is always a fun activity that we enjoy. Pipe cleaners were added into our play to make the experience more exciting. We bent them to make a rainbow and we also stuck them in the doh utilizing our fine motor skills.

Welcome to November!

The kindergarteners sign-in focused on singular and plural nouns. I read a sentence aloud, giving them two options to choose from (singular and plural noun) and they circled which word completed the sentence.

James and Millie searched through the reading area to see if we had any books about pirates and sure enough we did! They were able to find a book that had a big picture of a pirate ship for Miss Annastecia to draw.

After the pirate ship was done, children worked together to color the ship before it was put into the housekeeping area.
