Good Afternoon!
We kicked off our Tuesday by completing PREK1 sign in. Each group member came to the board where they counted the items in two groups, looking to identify the group that had six items. Once a child determined which group had six, they wrote their name under that group.
Later on in PREK1 group, we read a book from our MACK collection titled, ‘Tortoise and Hare’. Before we went to journal, we started talking about the term ‘syllable’. We used our hands to count the syllables in each of our names!
K.NS.4: Perform one to one correspondence tasks.
K.RF.3.2: Orally segments words into syllables.

This morning we combined a child led request with some curriculum. We had a suggestion to play Grocery Store at the round table. Since we had planned to work with counting groups, the suggestion was perfect. We played both store keepers and customers. If we had a store we practiced counting out how many fruits a customer asked for. If we were the customer, we asked for a number of fruits and then counted our money to pay for it.

PREK2: During group we read “I Can Handle It” which gives examples of scenarios where the character thinks of ways to solve his own problems. After the story, we were given a card with a number on it. We identified the number or got some help, then we put that number of stickers on our name, which we found on the board.

Breakfast: Puffins cereal with fresh pears.
Lunch: Peanut butter on whole wheat tortilla, fresh strawberries/pineapple/cantaloupe, and fresh peppers/cucumbers.
PM Snack: Whole wheat bagel with cream cheese.
Wee Sprouts: Fresh cucumbers/bell peppers.
Have a great afternoon!
