Since the children had so much fun creating their wolf sculptures with salt dough, the children will now be able to make their own “Sculpture Dough” in the art area.   They have a recipe card, the ingredients and the equipment to do everything independently.  When their sculpture projects dry out, they will be able to paint them.

In celebration of the upcoming creative drama exploration, the children acted out animal characters with face paint. 

You know that pesky styrofoam that comes in everything?  We have a use for it!  Styrofoam combined with a few hammers, and some golf tees made for a really fun (albeit loud) afternoon!

As a wolf study finale, Laurie and the children have crafted a creative drama exploration, “Big Bad Wolves at School’,  that will occur on Thursday, March 24th at 4:00.  If you would like to watch the show, be prepared to move with the actors as this show moves all around our classroom.

And the mouse really did run up the clock!  Paired with the ultra cool clock prop, the newest nursery rhyme we are learning is just a ton of fun!

Brave, brave Laurie took on Papier Mache with the older preschoolers today!  It may be the disaster papier-mache “incident” of 1998 (with a group of feisty 3’s and 4’s), but this is one sticky, ooey gooey project that scared me at a new level.  However, I am happy to report that with the right kids and papier mache knowledge, this can be a really cool project.  I can’t wait to see what the kids decide to do with them!

Have you ever wondered how many puff balls fit into a wrapping paper tube?  Or small carpet roll? We did.  I’m not sure what the total was…you’ll have to check with the kids!

Ok, I just need to express how much I enjoy our Tuesdays at the Y with our fabulous swim teachers Leslie and Amy! (Leslie, are you reading this?)  This was the first swim session for 2 of the Wee Frienders and it can be overwhelming to the new guys.  Amy eased our newbies into the water and after just a few minutes, we had enthusiastic swimmers.  While the little ones are getting used to bubbles and bobs, the bigger kids are swimming around like fish.  It’s really fun to watch!

Halloween was a joyous event at Wee Friends.  The kids (and teachers) celebrated in their costumes together and formed a costume parade.  Check out the flickr photos for more incredibly cute costumes!

Today we added a large bin of Halloween costumes to our Hopscotch Room.  The children spent the morning dressing up in a variety of costumes!  Taylor gathered all of the children and led them in a Halloween Costume Parade throughout Wee Friends:)
