Good afternoon!

Our friends engaged in many different activities this morning. Ben played in the housekeeping area, Eliza and Dax made music with xylophones, Hannah danced with a bean bag, Eden looked through the books on the reading steps, and Eleanor played on the Lego building table.

We then made our way to the kitchen for some sensory play with kinetic sand in circle trays or trays with a flower pattern. We used plastic eggs and lizards to explore with the kinetic sand.

Good Afternoon!

This morning a friend got out the bean bags and asked for a bean bag song.  We listened and followed the directions to the Beanie Bag dance song by Greg and Steve.

IMG_8151IMG_8152IMG_8154

We then headed into the kitchen with Miss Bekah to explore and build with the wooden loose parts and farm animals.  The friends each shared the name of the animal and worked to identify the different shapes of the blocks that were on their trays.

IMG_8171IMG_8170IMG_8169

Eleanor and another friend explored stacking pegs together in a peg  board or connecting just the pegs together.

IMG_8176IMG_8178

We then headed out to work on our shapes and placing them in the correct place in the shape house’s roof or worked on our tracing skills using our finger to trace the variety of tracing boards on the wall of the habi-trail.

IMG_8182IMG_8184IMG_8181IMG_8180IMG_8179

We also engaged in books through out the morning, independently or having a teacher read to us.  What a busy morning!

Happy Monday!

On Friday Adrian was talking about his families celebration of Hanukkah and he made a book about his traditions in the art center.  Some of his friends were interested and asked questions about what his family does to celebrate.  Today Adrian brought in some books and a puzzle to share more with his friends about Hanukkah traditions.  Everyone enjoyed listening to a book about dreidels.  They also put the puzzle together as a group.  Anyone who has a special holiday tradition in their family is welcome to share with the class how their family celebrates winter holidays.

IMG_2406IMG_2411IMG_2384

Everyone enjoyed exploring some holiday themed loose parts this morning.  Several friends chose to sort by shape or color.

The building rug was a busy place today attracting a big group.  Everyone enjoyed creating flying contraptions, ships and a very tall car to play imaginatively together!

PREK2: Today we practiced deep breathing with Rainbow breath.  We sang the “School Family” song that we have been learning and practiced different ways of greeting friends.  We shook hands, gave high fives and gave pinky shakes.  It took some focused attention to find our smallest finger!  We read the story “Bunnies’ first Snow” and talked about what kinds of animals hibonite and what kinds do not.  Last we practiced name recognition finding our name on the board and putting our sticker next to it.

**VACCINATION RECORD REMINDERS

Children who are due for a new vaccination record will find a reminder taped to their cubbies. Please leave the reminder slips on the cubbies until you have submitted one to us.  This way you will get a daily reminder and we know which ones are still needed at a quick glance.

Why annual vaccination records? State licensing requires a new record annually.  To ensure we are ready for our Q1 inspection, we need them no later than Jan 1st.

*Families who enrolled this summer/fall will have already submitted a shot record so you are all set until we request new records next year.

*If you already brought us an updated shot record sometime this fall, you are all set!

PREK1 friends had the opportunity to come sign in this morning where we worked with syllables. I had several different items in a bag and each friend got to pull one item from the bag. Once they identified the item, they clapped out the syllables for that item. For example, William pulled out a ball. He figured out that ‘ball’ is a one syllable word. He wrote ‘bal’ in the one syllable group and wrote his name.

Arthur’s birthday yesterday grew into a class-wide interest in cakes.  Several friends proposed a cake shop which expanded all morning.  We brought the tiered cake up for the cake shop to get started plus some baking pans, spoons, bowls and whisks so the kids could take their imagination into preparing the cakes for sale as well.  Once the cake shop was set up, we needed customers.  Some willing volunteers equipped with a bags of pretend money, headed for the cake shop for some practice in commerce.  It was apparent with all of the activity at the shop, that the business needed a restaurant.  We created some place settings for “cake with tea or coffee” and the cake shop quickly hired a wait staff.  soon we had bakers, sellers, buyers, servers and diners all over housekeeping.  What a fun team effort!

IMG_2196IMG_2153IMG_2156IMG_2158

IMG_2160IMG_2180IMG_2229

Nesta continued the cake shop idea in the art center.  She designed a menu for the restaurant with a variety of cakes to choose from.  She decided upon chocolate, raspberry and vanilla.

IMG_2223

We expanded the water table this morning as well since interest in this set up has stayed strong all week.  There has been a lot of interest in the flow of water and possibilities for diverting it.  We added some magnetic tiles and marbles to help our friends trace the water flow and watch gravity work.

Good Afternoon!

Reminder:  We need an updated vaccination record by the time we return from our winter vacation on January 8, 2024.  Those children who need one have a green note taped to their cubby.  Thank you!

This morning we all engaged in a book independently on the reading step.  Eleanor explored the wooden loose parts in the housekeeping area.

IMG_7908IMG_7922IMG_7920

We then headed into the kitchen to engage with wooden loose parts that were a variety of different shapes and small animals on wooden trays.  We stacked our wooden pieces together to make a tall tower.

IMG_7931IMG_7934IMG_7938IMG_7933

We then laid out the stepping textured circles and liquid squares to walk on before climbing up the stairs onto the habi-trail.  Eden held and tossed one of our indoor snowballs.

IMG_7962IMG_7965IMG_7964

Finally, the weather was nice enough for us to make it outside.  We enjoyed the fresh air and playing with the dinosaurs in the sandbox, walking on the balance beam  with help from an older friend and one of the other pre-school class friends was using their imaginative play skills and decided to be a unicorn, so we joined them.

Good afternoon!

Our friends were all engaged in different activities on the reading steps. They played with stuffed animals, looked out the window, and read independently or with Miss Bekah.

IMG_7828IMG_7831IMG_7826IMG_7834

They also crawled on the Habi-trail one after the other. The babies laughed as the older friends crawled behind them. They enjoyed going down the slide and playing peek-a-boo by the ladder.

IMG_7854IMG_7855IMG_7858IMG_7860IMG_7865IMG_7868

We then made our way to the kitchen to explore our corn/bean sensory table. Friends scooped up the mixture using different items like measuring cups. We also felt the texture of the gourds and the corn cobs.
